So the long awaited gameweek is nearly upon us, and this week sees us go head to head with @FFPundits in a Football Fanager league. Below you will see both line ups, but be sure to check out both @FFPundits and the Football Fanager website which has enabled us to do this.
So down to the business, firstly our line up is as follows:
So at the back and inbetween the sticks we have a cheap goalkeeper in the shape of West Brom’s Boaz Myhill, who faces a game against QPR at The Hawthorns on Saturday. With Tony Pulis managing West Brom, there is always the chance of a clean sheet, and surely against QPR this shouldn’t be too hard? Completing the back, in defence we star Kompany, Ivanovic & Bertrand who face fixtures against Crystal Palace, Stoke City and Everton respectively. Once again, these games provide a big opportunity to score a clean sheet but unfortunately, there are no easy games in the Premier League so we will have to cross our fingers!
To start off our 5 man midfield we have Santi Cazorla, purely to tap into the flying form Arsenal have experienced of late. Cazorla is one of the men picking up points, mainly from assists, so we are hoping this form continues for us. Jordan Henderson is the next midfielder to feature in our line up. Since the announcement that Gerrard is playing his final season, Henderson has slowly picked up his form and delivered when Gerrard isn’t playing. He has experienced a good run of form lately, as well as being selected for the national team so we are banking on him to deliver once more. David Silva is our third midfielder, as the Spanish wizard looks to continue his good form, and possibly help the likes of Aguero re-find the back of the net. Our penultimate midfielder is Christian Eriksen, who has done extremely well lately, and has had the lime light taken off him somewhat as Harry Kane has been performing so well, but without the Danish midfielder Kane may not have been quite as prolific. Our final midfielder this week is arguably the league’s best midfielder in the form of Eden Hazard, and what a season he is having! Hopefully this form will continue against Stoke City this week.
Up top we have a formidable duo of Harry Kane and Diego Costa. Not sure much needs to be said about these two, both in good form and with Harry scoring on his England debut, he will have bags of confidence, with Costa doing what Costa does best. With games against Stoke City and Leicester City, surely there will be goals in these games for this pair?
So onto the FFPundits line up:
@FFPundits have put in a strong team, going for an interesting tactic of 4 defenders from only 2 teams. With Chelsea playing Stoke and Swansea playing Hull, this could be a massive win or a huge backfire. In midfield we are like for like as our midfield consists of their choice of 3 players; Silva, Eriksen and Hazard. Up top they have selected Austin, a double gameweek player of course so we will have our fingers crossed he doesn’t bag any goals against West Brom or Villa. The noticeable omission from the FFPundits squad is Harry Kane but they do have Aguero who travels to Palace in MNF. Our captain’s are entirely different, with each of our captains not featuring at all in the opposition team, making this a very interesting watch. With formation, captaincy choice, and the decision to (or not to in our case) select multiple players from the same team in defence being the key differences between our line-ups, the results should go massively in favour of one team over another this week.
