FPL Updates XI – Gameweek 25

Gameweek 24 was a tough one for the FPL Updates XI, and although the team scored 7 points above average (45 points) it still saw the team drop in the ranks, now down to 22,402 overall. This is still a somewhat respectable rank, but this is how the team looked at the end of the week:

FPL Updates

In goal Tim Krul was close to a clean sheet, but didn’t manage to hold onto it after conceding a goal to Stoke City in the second half. Just in front of him we saw a poor performance from our defence as they only scored 5 points between them. This was somewhat disappointing, however there were only 4 clean sheets in total this week, which means it was generally a poor defensive week all round.

In the middle of the park Hazard was the stand out performer, scoring a total of 10 points. Meanwhile, Downing and Di Maria only managed 4 points between them (2 each). Finally Walcott didn’t start this week, however we think he will feature in this midweek gameweek, and then we will deliberate his future over the FA Cup break.

Finally up top, captain Aguero managed to grab an assist, and brought the team home a total of 10 points. Harry Kane managed to be our star man this week, scoring 12 points! He is now becoming this season’s must have, such as Suarez was last season. Finally Wayne Rooney played his last game for our team, scoring a miserable 1 point.

So down to the business:

Rooney (OUT) -> Giroud (IN)

Wasilewski (OUT) -> Naughton (IN)

With two free transfers, out goes the two out of form players of this team, and in come the in form Giroud and Swansea new boy Naughton. Here is how we line up this week:

Note – Last minute changes! As Giroud has been put on the bench we have taken the captains armband away from him and given it to Walcott this week.

FPL updates

This week we start with Tim Krul in goal as he faces Crystal Palace this week. Foster also has a good fixture this week against Swansea at home, but we have chosen to play the tank being Tim Krul. In defence this week we start Naughton, Hutton and van Aanholt. This week Hutton and van Aanholt both play teams in the bottom three, being Hull City and QPR. Hopefully they will perform a little better this week.

In the middle of the park we start an unchanged line up of; Downing, Walcott, Di Maria and Hazard. Here, Hazard and Downing have the harder fixtures, being Southampton and Everton. However, Walcott and Di Maria both have easier fixtures this week against Leicester City and Burnley respectively. This week we did have the captains armband on Olivier Giroud, but with the team news of him being on the bench we have passed it onto team mate Theo Walcott, don’t let us down Theo!

Finally, up top we start super star Harry Kane, who faces a tough fixture against Liverpool this week. Saying that however, he had a tough fixture last week against Arsenal, but he still managed to grab two goals! We also start Aguero, who faces a visit to Stoke City. Can he do it on a cold night at Stoke? Well he needs to get out of this goal drought if he is going to stay in our team! Finally, our last player this week will be the new boy to the team, Olivier Giroud, who faces Leicester City. We can see Arsenal putting a few past them this week,so hopefully the Frenchman will come off the bench and grab one or two here.
