Gameweek 21 Captaincy Analysis

The festive period is over and we are nearing gameweek 21! Over the festive period we had 3 full gameweeks, but this week, fantasy football gets back to normal with a full fixture list over a weekend. Before we look at that though, let’s review our New Year’s Day picks:

1. David Silva – 2 points

2. Eden Hazard – 7 Points

Differential – Santi Cazorla – 2 Points

Gamble – Ayoze Perez – 2 Points

So moving swiftly on let’s have a look at this week’s captaincy options. Remember, most AFCON and Asia cup players have now departed.

1. Eden Hazard

When talking about a Chelsea home game, it is likely that the Belgian will put in a performance and bring home some big points. Lately Hazard has became a more consistent performer so is looking like a must have, especially if you’re looking to use your January wildcard this week. Chelsea are at home to Newcastle and given Chelsea’s home form, a convincing home win is on the cards.

2. Charlie Austin

The Austin bandwagon has continually gained momentum and even though many will say ‘QPR don’t perform away’, when a striker is in form, you can’t rule out a few goals at Turf Moor in a relegation 6 pointer on Saturday. Good option if you’re looking for a risky pick.

Differential – Radamel Falcao

The United loanees have so far fallen short of expectations but after spending a while out with injury, the Colombian has scored a few goals and looks much more threatening. With a low ownership rate of 2.6%, he will be a tempting option for many an FPL manager especially in those all important wildcard teams. This week United face a tough test at home to Southampton but looking longer term Falcao could be a good pick.

Gamble – Alexis Sanchez

The Arsenal front-man has scored 10 Premier League goals and scored an impressive 122 points so far this term and looks to add to them at home to Stoke. Although Stoke are hard to beat and in decent form, I can’t look past Arsenal and usually an Arsenal win involves Alexis putting in a performance so he looks like a solid choice.

I hope You enjoyed the article and good luck with gameweek 21!
