Gameweek 21 Preview

After a weekend’s FA Cup fixtures, here we are with the gameweek 21 preview:

Sunderland vs. Liverpool

Sunderland v Liverpool

You just don’t know which Liverpool is going to turn up in every game, the one which showed so much promise last season, or the lacklustre side they have been this season. Sunderland meanwhile cannot stop drawing, so the points should be shared apiece.

STAR MAN – Steven GERRARD

The midfield legend will be putting his all into every game, and with any set piece there’s a chance he will bury it.

Burnley vs. QPR

Burnley v QPR

This is a massive clash at the bottom of the table between two of the newly-promoted sides. Burnley probably need the points a lot more than QPR, whom still have not gained a single point away from home all season.

STAR MAN – George BOYD

Boyd has proven to be a fantastic signing for Burnley and continues to provide goals from the midfield.

Chelsea vs. Newcastle

Chelsea v Newcastle

The encounter here at Stamford Bridge has pretty much got a home win written all over it, with Mourinho’s men boasting a 100% record at home this season, whereas the topsy-turvy season for Newcastle continues without a manager.

STAR MAN – Eden HAZARD

Hazard is simply unplayable at times and still performed well in his last game despite losing heavily to Spurs.

Everton vs. City

Everton v Manchester City

Everton have probably been the biggest disappointment of the season after such a promising fifth place finish in their last campaign, and this is not a good time to play the champions who have been rampant recently.

STAR MAN – James MILNER

The versatile English midfielder was on target twice for City in the Cup and will need to step up with Toure leaving for Africa.

Leicester vs. Villa

Leicester City v Aston Villa

It had been going dismally for Leicester until recently, with them managing to obtain four points in their last two games, and they will face an Aston Villa side that have been extremely unpredictable this season.

STAR MAN – Christian BENTEKE

Benteke has been unlucky not to be on the score-sheet a lot more in recent games but he did net in the Cup.

Swansea vs. West Ham

Swansea v West Ham

Two teams who have probably exceeded expectations already this season, with both of them sitting comfortably in the top half, will probably lead to a feisty affair with no winner, so a score draw is on the cards.

STAR MAN – Gylfi SIGURDSSON

The midfielder still seems to be at the heart of all good things Swansea create so we expect him to step up at home against The Hammers.

WBA vs. Hull

West Brom v Hull City

Despite a decent run of games recently, Hull City still hover dangerously around the bottom three, but West Brom will be absolutely buzzing with their new manager in his first home match following his 7-0 Cup win.

STAR MAN – Saido BERAHINO

This Englishman actually scored four goals in that seven goal rout and will look to find the target again.

Palace vs. Spurs

Crystal Palace v Tottenham

Tottenham have made a sudden charge up the league table following their fantastic win over league leaders Chelsea and should not have too much trouble against Alan Pardew’s first league game in charge.

STAR MAN – Scott DANN

Palace have kept clean sheets in their last four games with this tall, physical defender scoring twice during this good spell.

Arsenal vs. Stoke

Arsenal v Stoke City

The Gunners have had a terrible start to the season by their standards and will still be haunted by Stoke City who put three past them by half time last month. However, Arsenal should play well at home and win comfortably.

STAR MAN – Per MERTESACKER

The BFG as they call him, Mertesacker will be looking to add his to goal his last game with him being a threat from set pieces, as well as a good opportunity for a clean sheet.

United vs. Southampton

Manchester United v Southampton

Once again, this fixture is another top-four clash and it will probably be too difficult for Koeman’s men to gain a victory here, especially after they struggled at home to Ipswich in the Cup, so a home win is expected.

STAR MAN – David DE GEA

Arguably the goalkeeper of the season so far, De Gea has kept the Red Devils in so many matches this campaign.
