Gameweek 32 Review

133 points this week as time is running out for managers to make as many points as possible in one last stretch to climb the table. With the Manchester derby and many struggling after a boring Saturday managers looked towards their big player to make the difference, but did this pressure affect any performances? Some more blanks and some different faces so lets get straight into the Dream Team to see how the week played out.

FPL Updates

Goalkeeper

This week we have brad Guzan after a solid performance against Tottenham moving Villa further away from relegation and shattering Tottenham’s top 4 chance. With a 9th clean sheet it is probable that Villa will look to carry form into the finale of the season. 3 saves and 2 bonus points edged him over the competition this week as he records his 111th point of the 14/15 campaign.

Defenders

Next, we have a bit of a mouthful Alderweireld, don’t ask me to pronounce it. But none-the-less his defending capabilities shone this week as the Saints defender who only just got back into the first team did his duty against Hull and got a clean sheet as well as a man of the match performance leading to an impressive 9 points. Again 9 clean sheets for the young defender.

This week there were only 5 clean sheets so this opened the door for Dejan Lovren to make an appearance after a solid game against Newcastle. Liverpool won 2-0 and the Liverpool defence was under mass amounts of pressure after Sakho’s injury update and their recent dismissals. But those concerns were unnoticeable this week as they kept the strike force of Newcastle at bay and comfortably closed out the match.

Finally, in this unusual defence we have Cresswell for the Hammers, as he makes his 2nd appearance in the Dream team after a goal. His score would have been higher if it wasn’t for a last minute equaliser from Stoke. The defender played the game in commanding fashion and looked comfortable throughout, making Victor Moses seem useless until he was finally subbed off.

Midfielders

Top scorer this week is Bolasie with a HUGE 24 points – just imagine having him as your captain. A hat trick for the magician wasn’t enough as he continued to get an assist and help his team to a comfortable 4-1 win against Sunderland. A 4th straight win for Palace and as Bolasie looks to impress some big clubs for the summer, his goal tally will definitely come into play as he looks to add week in week out.

Ashley Young became the hero of Manchester after an impressive game against City. He looked to be struggling as he dived in the early stage of the game but he quickly recovered and nabbed himself a goal for all his hard work. He shut City down in the second half with 2 impressive assists in one of the most vital games of the season. It would be unsurprising to see him start next game over Di Maria.

Next up, is a fresh face as Allen records his highest scoring week and introduces himself to the dream team after a well struck volley found its way past Krul during a dominating win. No-one expected the Welshman to make a huge impact in the game but as he looks to fill the gap Gerrard left due to his suspension he will be pleased with a goal and a clean sheet to his name.

Arsenal squeezed past Burnley as the game looked to be going for a draw but another Welshman, this time Ramsey made his mark with a well worked goal edging them into 2nd for the first time this season. Their 4th place curse looks to be coming to an end with City struggling but I wouldn’t call you crazy if you predicted Arsenal to win their final games and scare Chelsea into maybe losing the title.

Mentioning Chelsea, Fabregas is next as another close game found Chelsea struggling until the final minutes where a mistake from Green gave Chelsea a chance and you didn’t have to ask twice. Almost a third of managers opted for the Spaniard as his attractive assist record continues to grow and he is now getting on the scoresheet.

Forwards

After putting 4 past Sunderland it was likely to see a Palace striker and Murray makes an appearance after assisting twice in the game and later grabbing a goal to shut down all Sunderland hopes and sending fans home early. 2 bonus points only boost his tally as he has had 38 points in his last 3 games. A very impressive statline.

Finally, we have Sergio Aguero, who despite grabbing 2 goals will be unhappy with his performance after losing in a disappointing fashion. Not all doom and gloom for the striker as he edges towards the golden boot but will need to re-spark his magic if he wants to be a true contender. 19 goals and 162 points for the season leaves it no shock as to why a quarter of managers opt for him every week and often as a captain.

So how did the week go for you? Was it a success or did you rely on Harry Kane to bag you some points? Let us know @FplUpdates and ask any questions you would like to be answered!
