Under the Radar – Gameweek 17

With the Christmas period fast approaching, making the right transfers has become more important every gameweek and with 3 gameweeks in the space of 6 days, I’m sure every fantasy football addict will be pulling their hair out from boxing day all the way up to the New Year. Now let’s begin with the under the radar picks for this week.

ROBIN VAN PERSIE, £12.6M, 6.7% TSB

The Dutch striker seems to be back in form and after a great game against Liverpool at the weekend, scoring once and assisting as well as a brace against Southampton the previous Monday, he looks the perfect (all be it late) replacement for Aguero. A six game unbeaten run is phenomenal and United will look to take this as far as they can over the Christmas period. Trips to Villa and Spurs await United, while they host Newcastle on Boxing Day and with these fixtures in mind there isn’t anything that would stop RVP from making your fantasy side. His price is extremely high but he seems to be making up for that with his consistent 2 digit point haul.

SAMIR NASRI, £8.2M, 2.4% TSB

Despite missing out on the French national squad for the World Cup after what was a very good 2013/14 campaign, it seems that after 15 gameweeks Nasri has finally regained some form. A brilliant display against Roma and an assist against Leicester last week put Nasri in the differential category for high priced midfielders. Despite his £8.2M price tag, which may seem risky, his 2.4% selected by is enough to tempt anyone into a gamble on him. Manchester City’s fixtures over Christmas CANNOT be ignored and I expect them to pick up maximum points going into the New Year. So with that being my thinking I would highly recommend the French midfielder as a reliable differential for the coming gameweeks.

Thanks very much for reading again and best of luck for gameweek 17, may your arrows be green. Also a Merry Christmas to you all.

Dan.
