Captaincy Analysis – Gameweek 21 FPL Tips – Fantasy Premier League Tips

Welcome to another FPL Captaincy Analysis for gameweek 21. Last week a lot of the Fantasy Premier League favourites blanked, and only one of our tips brought home some respectable points. Hopefully gameweek 21 will see some better FPL points for the captaincy choices. Here are how last week’s picks did:

1. Mesut Ozil – 2 points

2. Odion Ighalo – 2 points

3. Romelu Lukaku – 5 points

Differential – Marko Arnautovic – 1 point

Gamble – Christian Benteke – 2 points

Bonus – Riyad Mahrez – 1 point

Now onto this week’s picks…

1. Diego Costa (WBA)

I can’t help but feel that Costa will run riot this weekend. It’s the first time this season a Chelsea player takes top spot in our captaincy picks, but with a comfortable win last weekend against a usually defensively solid Crystal Palace, is it time to admit that the old Chelsea are coming back? They take on West Brom this weekend at home, so will Costa be able to get on the scoresheet against the Baggies? Costa won’t be the most popular choice this week, however with Vardy and Lukaku doubtful for the weekday matches, maybe you should consider Costa as your captain.

2. Mesut Özil (LIV)

Last weekend marked the third blank that Ozil has had all season, however you can’t rule him out for captaincy as he has the capability of scoring big in any week. He’s got 16 assists all season, and he has 17 games to add to that, and if you consider his form, you can’t rule him out equalling Thierry Henry’s record in the weekday match. Arsenal take on Liverpool this week, and with the amount of injuries they have in defence, they’ll be forced to play an inexperienced, poor defence, so goals are surely there to be had in the game. I’m extremely confident he won’t blank, but can he get into double digits, for the umpteenth time this season?

3. Odion Ighalo (SOU)

It was the first time in six matches that Ighalo failed to score, which surprised me because I thought City were really poor in the first half so I did think he would have got on the scoresheet eventually. Watford take on Southampton on Wednesday, and I feel that Ighalo will do well against them. He’s proved to everyone this season that no matter who Watford take on, he can do well against them, so he should get on the scoresheet this week. He’ll be a popular choice for captaincy this week as he’s a popular transfer in for Vardy, so if you want to catch up in the rankings, I’d recommend other players.

Differential – Dimitri Payet (BOU)

He came back from his two month long injury last weekend, and although he was only playing for 15 minutes, he showed glimpses of how good he actually is. He turned on the style with some Cruyff turns and it is clear to see how much West Ham have missed him. And now that he’ll be starting, he’ll be back to his usual self, tearing up defenders with his fantastic passes, skills and tekkers! I’d really consider Payet for captaincy, as he wont be captained by many!

Gamble – Romelu Lukaku (MCI)

I couldn’t see myself not putting Romelu into the article, he’s just too good to leave out. He’s been one of the most influential players this season, scoring 16 and assisting 5 in just the league! He’s only the gamble as he is a doubt for the game against Man City, however if he does play, you can bet that he’ll be a dangerous threat, just like he was in the first leg of the league cup last Wednesday!
