Captaincy Analysis – Gameweek 28 FPL Tips – Fantasy Premier League Tips

Hello and welcome to our captaincy analysis article for the upcoming gameweek 28. We are treated to a full midweek fixture list after the blanks that some teams had at the weekend.

Before we dig in to potential captaincy picks for the new round of Premier League fixtures, lets see how last week’s picks did:

1. Jamie Vardy – 5 points

2. Odion Ighalo – 2 points

3. Harry Kane – 2 points

Differential – Dimitri Payet – 3 points

Gamble – Diego Costa – 4 points

So it was really a week where surprise names took the headlines and the usual point scorers took a back seat. Now onto this week:

1. Jamie Vardy (WBA)

Leicester are still the ones to catch in the title race and after a dramatic late winner at home over Norwich, the Foxes have a 2 point cushion at the top. Vardy is still the leading goalscorer and is in decent form of late, claiming the assist for the winner on Saturday. Despite beating a lacklustre Crystal Palace side on Saturday the Baggies are still quite fragile defensively so you would expect Leicester to score a few at the King Power. Vardy is the main attacking threat at Leicester so will be instrumental in Leicester’s chances this week and many managers will be backing Vardy to get back on the scoresheet by giving him the armband. A very good choice.

2. Romelu Lukaku (AVL)

It was a good weekend for Everton despite the fact they never kicked a ball! The news of billionaire investment promises a bright future and on the field they will be hoping to get the new era off to a good start by beating an Aston Villa side who are destined for relegation. Because Villa’s defence is about as useful as a chocolate teapot Everton should score freely on Tuesday and Lukaku will more than likely be on the scoresheet. A safe captaincy choice.

3. Diego Costa (NOR)

The arrival of Guus Hiddink has sparked a revival in Diego Costa and he is now on track to going back to his scintillating best. Chelsea as a whole look reinvigorated and are now climbing the table. After coming from behind at Southampton; Chelsea will be high on confidence when they travel to struggling Norwich and will be looking for back to back away wins. The Canaries are poor at the back so there’s every chance Costa could run riot so should be a contender for your armband.

Differential – Alexis Sanchez (SWA)

The Chilean hasn’t been at his best since returning from injury however he is the type of player who can create something out of nothing so should never be ignored. Swansea aren’t a bad side however do concede goals so Arsenal will be looking to capitalise on this at the Emirates. The Gunners will be looking to respond to a poor result at Old Trafford so you would think they will be motivated to perform. As Sanchez is only owned by around 13.5% of players, he is worth considering as a differential skipper.

Gamble – Sergio Aguero (LIV)

After City won the cup in dramatic circumstances on Sunday they will again be looking to break Liverpool hearts but this time in the Premier League. City are a good attacking outfit and Aguero is in good form, scoring 6 in his last 5, so he is worth consideration. Liverpool will be looking to restore some pride at Anfield on Wednesday but equally City will be looking to make it 2 wins in 4 days over their rivals. Aguero faces a difficult fixture but when he is on form the Argentine is capable of scoring against anyone so is always a good captaincy pick.

Thanks for reading and good luck!
