Gameweek 13 Review – Fantasy Premier League Tips

Fantasy Premier league action has returned and what a line up of fixtures we had in gameweek 13! With London derbies and City Vs Liverpool, the weekend was hyped up to be a huge success. To top it all, Vardy was on hand to equal a long lasting record of scoring in 10 consecutive games. In fantasy football though, who could have got you some of the high points this week? A mixture of FPL differentials and regulars is your answer, so let’s have a look!

Dreamteam

Goalkeeper

Costel Pantilimon – The shot stopper this week is a surprising one! Sunderland haven’t kept many clean sheets this season, 2 to be exact, and they had to work very hard to get one this week as the keeper managed 7 saves awarding him 2 bonus points, but more importantly he can take credit for Sunderland getting 3 points for only the 2nd time this season, moving them from bottom to 18th. Not really a big accomplishment when you look at it like that but it is a start!

Defenders

Erik Pieters – The back line in this week’s XI is none other than a bunch of differentials. First up in this 3 man fortress is Pieters and alongside his clean sheet and an assist, he picked up 3 bonus points to take his tally to 12 for the gameweek. Stoke have recently said they will be pushing for a top 6 finish which for me sounds a bit optimistic, so let’s see if they can replicate performances like these to get close to finishing anywhere around there.

Billy Jones – It is rare having a single Sunderland player in the week’s line up, so when we find 2 it is really hard to believe! The defender earned himself a worthy mention for his heroics and with a repeat of almost a month ago, it seems the young defender is finding quite some form as the rest of the team are struggling. Sunderland have 2 players in the team along with their 2 wins, 2 clean sheets, but they wont be looking forward to Christmas as they play the considered top 4 teams consecutively over the holiday.

Danny Simpson – Next up, is Leicester defender Simpson, who despite having an easy task of holding back a non existent Newcastle attack managed to find himself getting an assist, opening up his tally for the season. Leicester don’t keep many clean sheets so they will be proud of this one!

Midfielders

Ross Barkley – One of England’s future stars featured in this week’s team, and what an impact he made! Our top scorer this week so who captained him? With 2 goals and an assist it was inevitable that he would be man of the match and secure the 3 bonus points to take his tally to a massive 19. He now has 4 goals and 4 assists for the season.

Roberto Firmino – Next up is Firmino and he looks to have finally settled in to this Liverpool side under Klopp and this was proven as Liverpool stunned City by taking a 3-0 lead in 35 minutes. Smooth football was an understatement. 2 assists and a goal is insane in such a high stakes match and the 3 points will give Liverpool the confidence heading into the next few games.

Andre Ayew – Ayew from Swansea also gets a shout, with a goal and an assist as well as earning himself a man of the match performance. All of his efforts went to waste as Bournemouth had already claimed an early lead and the match ended in a 2-2 draw. The 3rd time this man has made it into the dream team and honestly he doesn’t look to be too bad of a player, he has everything needed to be a top midfielder in the top flight.

Philippe Coutinho – Next up is more of an expected one, as the Brazilian duo linked up well to disassemble the City line up and make it a day to remember for Liverpool fans across the country. Coutinho is his name and he will be a future legend at the club most likely. He was fundamental to Liverpool’s good play as they put in their performance of the season.

Forwards

Harry Kane – In the front 3 this week, we begin with Harry Kane who was in the dream team for the majority of last year, but had a slow start this year as he struggled to find form. With 7 in his last 4 he is proving to the critics that he isn’t just a one season wonder and he can do it consistently. 2 goals gave him all shares of the bonus points and took his tally to 8 for the season, and I have no doubt it won’t stop there.

Romelu Lukaku – The Belgian tank was back at it again this week (no not Benteke!). Lukaku smashed it this week with 2 goals to add to Barkley’s to create a perfect formula for a 4-0 smashing. His 4th appearance in the dream team this term, and with 9 goals he is in a good position to be going for this season’s top scorer accolade. Everton struggled last year when he wasn’t on form and look at them now when he is, it’s a brand new side!

Leonardo Ulloa – Finally, we have Ulloa who has been overshadowed by the incredible Jamie Vardy and has found himself sidelined for the majority of the season. This week though, he can be proud of a goal and an assist as well as doubling his tally for the season in a single week.

So how did the week go? Did you have a successful one or did you gamble and lose points? Let us know @FPL_Updates we’d love to know!
