Gameweek 14 Preview – Fantasy Premier League Tips

Another set of appetising FPL fixtures for November’s concluding week of Premier League football. Last gameweek we saw a couple a 4-1 annihilation’s from Liverpool and Tottenham, both in important fixtures for each club. Anyway, onto gameweek 14’s preview…

AVLWAT

Aston Villa vs Watford

Villa have gone from drawing with the league leaders to being battered 4-0. Under their recently appointed manager, each point is crucial to the club, especially when they sit rock bottom of the table with just 5 points. While Aston Villa were no challenge for Everton, Watford certainly put up a fight in their game against United and believed that they had rescued a point after an 87th minute equaliser, only for United to score in injury time with the goal deflecting off Troy Deeney. Watford have shown this season that they don’t let a poor result put them down and they should come into the match with a real passion. It does look as if Watford are the favourites going into this match, but we don’t think Villa will be swept aside as non-contenders just yet.

Star Man – Troy Deeney (5.1m)

A goal for each side last week. The captain is taking control of his team and has registered a few goals recently.

Prediction – Aston Villa 0-1 Watford

BOUEVE

Bournemouth vs Everton

A sense of relief circles around the club after Bournemouth managed to grab a 2-2 draw against Swansea and even lead the game by two goals at one point. For the first time since Callum Wilson’s injury they had looked a threat to their opposing defence. Eddie Howe may have had a bit of weight lifted off his shoulders, but there is no room to relax for Bournemouth as they face a promising team in the league. Everton have scored no less than 11 goals in the last 3 games and they were an unstoppable force in their last match as they comfortably led from start to finish. Just as Bournemouth got their momentum it looks as if they will be treated to another miserable experience.

Star Man – Romelu Lukaku (8.8m)

The Belgian was brought into FPL teams by the 1000’s last week and it paid off with a score of 12. Expect the big man to continue his good run in front of goal.

Prediction – Bournemouth 0-3 Everton

CRYNEW

Crystal Palace vs Newcastle

A good string of results for Palace came to an end with a 1-0 loss to Sunderland on Monday night. As for Newcastle, they just couldn’t contain the new league leaders Leicester and surprisingly they were also not able to put one past their opposition’s weak defence. Palace have shown signs that they can challenge for a position in Europe, but they have to make sure they are winning matches such as the one on Monday for them to have any chance.

Star Man – Yannick Bolasie (6.1m)

Bolasie will spearhead the Palace midfield towards victory. A guaranteed 90 minutes and the ability to score big.

Prediction – Crystal Palace 2-1 Newcastle

MCISOU

Manchester City vs Southampton

Two teams in the higher end of the table suffered surprise defeats last weekend. Now second placed, Manchester City saw it go all wrong for them in their 4-1 loss to Liverpool. Southampton on the other hand suffered a minor defeat as well as having leading striker, Pelle suspended for their next game due to yellow card build up. I don’t think City’s disappointing result will effect their form and they will attempt to prove this with a defiant win over Southampton.

Star Man – Sergio Aguero (13.1m)

It was promising to see Kün back for the Manchester team and he is sure to deliver in the coming weeks. The Argentine does come at a hefty price, but if he can produce like has has previously, he will be a must have again in no time.

Prediction – Manchester City 2-1 Southampton

SUNSTK

Sunderland vs Stoke City

Both sides earned themselves 3 points last week, both winning 1-0. I have to say I’m surprised at the way both teams contained their opponents. Stoke look to have the edge on their similarly kitted opponents, as I believe they are more stable, whereas Big Sam’s side could have a horrific match out of nowhere. Furthermore, it is now Stoke’s 3rd clean sheet in a row. Credit is due to Sunderland as well for having become less fragile in defence, although from time to time we still see those weaknesses. This could be a tough battle.

Star Man – Marko Arnautovic (6.0m)

For his decent price, Arnautovic has received a respectable amount of points in the last few weeks and seems to be pulling the strings in the Stoke midfield.

Prediction – Sunderland 0-1 Stoke City

LEIMUN

Leicester City vs Manchester United

A top two battle between Leicester and Manchester United. The Foxes continue their best ever Premier League season in style as Vardy approaches the record breaking consecutive goal tally and Leicester compete for well… no one knows, they could well end up in the Champions League spots or mid table at the end of the season! But at the moment, the club must feel like a force in the league and it is United who come into the match as the less confident side. While they may have won their match against Watford in Fergie time, Leicester’s dominant performance over Newcastle ensures that United will have to bring something special to the table. Furthermore, The Foxes may have scored the most goals in the league with 28 however still sit on a goal difference of just 8 due to their poor defence, which hasn’t been singled out due to their position in the table. LvG’s team will definitely be able to poke a few past Schmeichel, but as they have proven before, it is how many Leicester score that is more important.

Star Man – Jamie Vardy (7.4m)

10 in 10. The man on a mission is destined to break the record! If you don’t have him in your team you’re mad!

Prediction – Leicester City 2-2 Manchester United

TOTCHE

Tottenham vs Chelsea

Less than a year ago, Spurs shocked the world with a 5-3 victory over Chelsea. This time round it is Tottenham who start as the clear favourites having put in a dominant display against other London rivals, West Ham. Their 4-1 win was a dominant display throughout. Chelsea secured their first win in four weeks with a 1-0 success over Norwich. It wasn’t their best display but they got the three points!

Star Man – Harry Kane (9.5m)

29 points in the last 3 weeks, the Englishman is back to his best. An alternative to the likes of Aguero and Lukaku, Kane offers frequent scoring and assists. One of the must haves at the moment, Harry could prove vital for his team this weekend.

Prediction – Tottenham 1-1 Chelsea

WHUWBA

West Ham vs West Brom

A miserable loss for West Ham last week, which was their first match since Payet’s injury. Their defence looked all over the place and Payet’s injury looked to have an effect all round. As for West Brom, they registered a decisive win against Arsenal. The 2-1 victory included a solid display and amid fears of a low FPL scoring defence in the next few weeks when they encounter some tough fixtures, surprised many, only conceding the one goal. It will be interesting to see if The Hammers will be able to penetrate their defence and the same going for WBA. While they may have conceded four in their last match, West Ham have generally had a high FPL scoring defence. As for their goal threat, Andy Carroll hasn’t performed to his highest standard since his return and Diafra Sakho could be scoring more, leaving the job down to Moses and Lanzini as their main outlets.

Star Man – Manuel Lanzini (5.4m)

Once again the Argentine picks up the Star Man position in his attempts to succeed the void left from their star midfielder. Although the majority of their last game was conceding goals, Lanzini managed to score a skilful goal gaining 7 points in the process. A steal at his price.

Prediction – West Ham 2-1 West Brom

LIVSWA

Liverpool vs Swansea

A substantial win in Liverpool’s season as they conquered Man City 4 goals to 1. It looks like several players have finally stepped up to what is asked, especially being important due to their striker crisis. Swansea, on the other hand, had to claw back from a two goal deficit against relegation candidates. Their bright spark has gone and a with mid table or lower finish on the horizon, compared to their European hopes earlier in the season, fans will be pondering on what went wrong. Liverpool should easily win this and establish themselves as real Champions League contenders.

Star Man – Roberto Firmino (8.0m)

Fellow Brazilian teammate, Coutinho, put in another excellent display although he picked up a minor injury, but he should still be able to play. As for Firmino, he had his best game in a Liverpool shirt, not only scoring his first goal, but also assisting twice.

Prediction – Liverpool 2-0 Swansea

NORARS

Norwich vs Arsenal

The Canaries drop one place after a narrow 1-0 loss to Chelsea. Not a bad performance by any means but their next challenge in Arsenal may prove to be too much. The North Londoners may have lost against West Brom but recovered midweek in a convincing 3-0 Champions League victory. If Mesut Ozil and Sanchez can replicate their midweek performances, they should be able to become the victors in ease.

Star Man – Oliver Giroud (8.7m)

A peculiar choice ahead of the likes of Ozil and Sanchez but The French striker has proved himself with a range of good performances while Walcott has been out injured.

Prediction – Norwich 0-3 Arsenal
