Game week 33 sees the 1st double gameweek of the Fantasy Premier League season, with Everton and Crystal Palace playing twice. Let’s take a look at the fixtures highlighting the players to watch out for. Without further ado, here is the gameweek 33 preview:
West Ham vs Arsenal
The early kick off sees a London derby, with both teams having plenty to play for. West Ham can still break into the top 4 and Arsenal still have that slight hope of being champions! In their last home fixture Arsenal destroyed Watford 4-0, so it should be a tasty game to start the weekend’s football
Star Man – Dimitri Payet (8.4m)
A tough pick in this game as there plenty of talent on show. The Frenchman is just a magician and Arsenal will need to be careful of giving away in free kicks within his range!
Prediction – West Ham 1-1 Arsenal
Aston Villa vs Bournemouth
Villa should start playing the kids, as they can’t do any worse than the current starting XI and they may see this as a chance to prepare for the Championship. The Cherries on the other hand will see this as a chance to bounce back after 4-0 thrashing at the hands of Manchester City.
Star Man – Joshua King (4.3m)
You can pick any of the Bournemouth attack, but the Norwegian could have a field day against a woeful Villa side.
Prediction – Aston Villa 0-2 Bournemouth
Crystal Palace vs Norwich
This fixture is a 6 pointer with 2 teams trying to avoid the relegation scrap. Palace have been on an awful run and find themselves sliding towards the relegation zone. The Canaries on the other hand have surprised many by getting 7 out of the last possible 9 points, giving themselves a genuine chance of avoiding relegation.
Stat Man – Dieumerci Mbokani (5.2m)
The powerful forward will look to capitalise on a shaky Crystal Palace defence.
Prediction – Crystal Palace 2-2 Norwich
Southampton vs Newcastle
Both teams will be reeling from last gameweek, as The Saints felt they didn’t get anything from the ref as they were defeated by Leicester City and Newcastle conceded a last minute goal to lose a valuable point against Norwich. Therefore both teams will want to bounce back with a win.
Star Man – Saido Mane (7.3m)
The Saints midfielder is discovering his early season form and will look to continue his hot streak at home to Newcastle.
Prediction – Southampton 2-1 Newcastle
Swansea vs Chelsea
Swansea are more or less safe, as their recent good form sees them 10 points away from relegation zone. Chelsea on the other hand will be looking towards next season, however there is an outside chance of them stealing a European spot!
Star Man – Gylifi Sigguerdson (7.3m)
The Icelandic star is the main man at the Liberty stadium and in top form.
Prediction – Swansea 1-1 Chelsea
Watford vs Everton
Watford look like they are at the beach already, as it appears they have nothing to play for. Meanwhile, Everton are struggling to pick up some consistency in the league, however they do appear to play better away from home. With a double gameweek this week they will want to capitalise on this and climb up table.
Star Man – Romelu Lukaku (8.9m)
Many will be hoping Big Rom will add to his impressive goal tally this week, as the Belgian striker could benefit from Watford’s players end of season ‘we are safe mentality’.
Prediction – Watford 1-2 Everton
Manchester City vs West Brom
Manchester City smashed 4 past Bournemouth in their last game and they will need to continue this goal scoring form if they are to secure top 4 finish. West Brom on the other hand will take anything from this fixture. If they walk away from the Etihad with a point then I’m sure they will regard it as a win!
Star Man – Sergio Aguero (13.6m)
Many will be hoping Kun will continue to be among the goals. The West Brom defence isn’t as strong as it used to be, so it would take a brave man to bet against Aguero finding the back of the net!
Prediction – Manchester City 3-0 West Brom
Sunderland vs Leicester
This is a huge game with implications on both ends of the League. Can Leicester continue the winning streak? Can Sunderland convert 1 points into 3? These are the big questions that will be asked during the 90 minutes, but no matter what the result Leicester City will still be top!
Star Man – Jermain Defoe (5.2m)
The diminutive English striker is the key to Sunderland survival chances, the question will be whether or not he can score against one of the strongest defences in the league.
Prediction – Sunderland 1-1 Leicester
Liverpool vs Stoke
After a loss and a draw in their past two fixtures, Liverpool will be looking to get a win against Stoke, who they beat twice already this season. Stoke on the other hand are in some good form and will put up a good fight against the Reds.
Star Man – Philippe Coutinho (8.2m)
The little magician is key to Liverpool’s attack.
Prediction – Liverpool 2-0 Stoke
Tottenham vs Manchester United
Spurs need to get their title charge back on track, after they have fallen 7 points behind Leicester. United will also be looking for a win, which would be their 6th consecutive win, to keep alive their top 4 chances. Another huge game with big implications for both teams.
Star Man – Harry Kane (10.4m)
The inform man will have to be at his best to get past David De Gea.
Prediction – Tottenham 1-0 Manchester United
Crystal Palace vs Everton
A bonus game for the 1st double gameweek of the season. This could see players being rested, as it is Everton’s second away game of the week. However, as previously noted, Everton do seem to play better away from home.
Star Man – Romelu Lukaku (8.9m)
Big Rom will be once again be the focus of the attack again, as many FPL managers will be trusting him with the captain arm band!
Prediction – Crystal Palace 2-2 Everton
