“Dilly Ding Dilly Dong”. Congratulations to Leicester City for taking the crown. The penultimate gameweek of the 15/16 FPL season is upon us and it brings another double gameweek with more transfer dilemmas. So who are you going with for this BIG gameweek? Choose wisely as decisions matter!
Norwich vs Manchester United
A struggling Norwich City side hosts Manchester United this weekend and with both teams at different ends of the league, this is likely to end one way. Norwich would take anything from this game as they currently sit 19th, 2 points away from safety, but if they do take anything, it will be points dropped for Manchester United who will be keen to jump back on the race for top 4.
STAR MAN: Marcus Rashford (4.7m)
United’s under 18 player of the year is phased by nothing and is always looking to find the back of the net.
PREDICTION: Norwich City 0-2 Manchester United
Aston Villa vs Newcastle
Aston Villa are long relegated and are playing more free flowing football with a few goals to go with it, while Newcastle are still fighting for safety. Sitting 17th, Rafa will want to win both the remaining games and hope for a slip up from the teams around them. Expect it to be a game with both sides getting a decent amount of chances to clinch the 3 points.
STAR MAN: Andros Townsend (5.8m)
After a delightful free kick last weekend, the former Spurs man has the form and the ability to drive his side to safety.
PREDICTION: Aston Villa 2-3 Newcastle United
Bournemouth vs West Brom
Both teams are languishing in lower-mid table and have achieved their goals for the season. With Albion’s recent defensive slump, and the attacking potential of the Cherries, this fixture provides an opportunity to invest in the free scoring Cherries.
STAR MAN: Joshua King (4.3m)
With 2 goals and an assist in the last 4 games, he is definitely in form and a home game against the Baggies provides an opportunity for him to again be amongst the points.
PREDICTION: Bournemouth 2-1 West Brom
Crystal Palace vs Stoke City
Both the Potters and the Eagles are struggling of late as both of them haven’t won a single game in the last 4 and both sides are in dire need of a win. The Potters are comfortably placed 10th and have nothing to play for now but Pardew’s men are still in need of a point or two to confirm safety.
STAR MAN: Marko Arnautovic (6.3m)
The bad boy of Austrian football has the ability to single handedly drive his team home.
PREDICTION: Crystal Palace 1-2 Stoke City
Sunderland vs Chelsea
Chelsea have one of the best away forms at the moment as they travel north to the Stadium of Light to face a hungry Sunderland side. Big Sam’s men are in need of the 3 points to continue their fight for survival while Chelsea have found some form of late and will fancy their chances of finishing as high as possible in an overall disappointing season.
STAR MAN: Eden Hazard (10.8m)
The little Belgian is back and with a bang too as he has bagged 3 goals in the last 2 games and has the ability to single handedly win it for his side.
PREDICTION: Sunderland 1-2 Chelsea
West Ham vs Swansea
Both the Swans and the Hammers are on the back of big wins and will like to add another 3 points to it. Swansea still have an outside chance of finishing in the top half of the table but face tough competition along the way while Bilic’s men are still in search of a top 4 spot, and with this fixture being the penultimate game at the Boleyn, the Hammers will want to put on a show.
STAR MAN: Andy Carroll (6.5m)
He is the most in-form forward in the league and he will be the man Bilic will look up to to break a stringent Swans defence.
PREDICTION: West Ham 2-0 Swansea
Leicester City vs Everton
Ranieri’s boys have done it & LEICESTER CITY are the CHAMPIONS of ENGLAND! Everton are struggling and this doesn’t seem to be a fixture in which Everton will be able to get back on track and take anything home. Leicester on the other hand have the form and the fixture and will be poised to put on some show before they lift the Premier League title later that evening. A dream story with a dream ending. Foxes never quit.
STAR MAN: Jamie Vardy (7.4m)
The free scoring Englishman will be keen to get on the scoresheet after being out for 2 games suspended, keen to get his hands on the Golden Boot.
PREDICTION: Leicester City 3-0 Everton
Tottenham vs Southampton
Spurs are now playing to keep their second place after back to back draws which resulted in them losing out on the title to Leicester City. Southampton are on the back of a very convincing victory over Manchester City and will still be eyeing the Europa League spot with time running out. Both teams will be looking to win which might just give us a very open and thrilling encounter, but with Spurs losing key players due to suspensions and injuries, Southampton might fancy their chances of winning this game.
STAR MAN: Shane Long (5.8m)
Although not very tall this guy is strong in the air, has a good leap and can run behind defences. He could turn out to be a thorn in the spine of the Tottenham defence.
PREDICTION: Tottenham 1-2 Southampton
Liverpool vs Watford
Third game in a 10 day window will surely again mean rotation from Klopp. Watford with nothing much to play for will be looking to finish strongly. Liverpool with their European distractions have looked off the pace in the Premier League and will be looking to put things right against the not so strong Hornets defence.
STAR MAN: Daniel Sturridge (10.3m)
With all the rotation in the Liverpool camp, he has been the only regular starter in recent weeks and with a Watford defence that has been leaking goals of late he might be just the man to win it for the struggling reds.
PREDICTION: Liverpool 2-1 Watford
Manchester City vs Arsenal
The big one sees the Citizens needing a win to leave the fight for automatic Champions League qualification to the final day. The Gunners on the back of a victory will be looking to finish the season on a high and guarantee their top 3 finish. Both sides will be hungry for a win and this game promises action and drama.
STAR MAN: Alexis Sanchez (11.1m)
The Chilean has found the form that had eluded him thus far and with his energy and work rate, he could inspire the Gunners to a win.
PREDICTION: Manchester City 1-2 Arsenal
West Ham vs Manchester United
This game should be an absolute cracker with both sides pushing for the Champions league spots. This will be the final match West Ham play at the Boleyn ground and they will be pumped to bid adieu to this ground with good memories. The added twist is that if Arsenal beat City, it will give United an added incentive to close in on their 4th placed city rivals.
STAR MAN: Dimitri Payet (8.5m)
Mr. Dependable for West Ham. Whenever they’ve needed a performance, this man has stepped up.
PREDICTION: West Ham 2-2 Manchester United
Norwich vs Watford
This is a must win game for Norwich if they want to have any chances of survival. Watford might just be the perfect opposition for them at this stage in order to pile on the pressure on the teams from the North East. Watford are on a poor run of results and will hope for some positive results at the end of the season. Games don’t get any more important than this one for Norwich.
STAR MAN: Robbie Brady (5.4m)
He can deliver some potent crosses for the Norwich forwards and could pop up with a goal as well from free kicks.
PREDICTION: Norwich 2-1 Watford
Sunderland vs Everton
With Sunderland being sured up at the back, they seem to be hardly letting any goals in. Everton have also been struggling to score goals and have been letting in far too many. With Sunderland fighting to stay in the league, Everton might find it difficult to score against the Black Cats.
STAR MAN: Patrick Van Aanholt (4.7m)
The left back has been known for his attacking style of play and delivering decent balls into the box. He is also on set pieces which adds to his potential attacking returns.
PREDICTION: Sunderland 1-0 Everton
Liverpool vs Chelsea
The game which decided the title two seasons ago is now just a mid table clash, such has been the season this time around. With Chelsea being on the front foot and Liverpool playing three games in a short time, the Klopp rotation pattern might come into picture with some big names being rested. This might just give Chelsea a chance to take revenge over the reds who had humbled them at home earlier on in the campaign.
STAR MAN: Diego Costa (10.5m)
He hasn’t been among the goals lately and will be looking to score a few goals and get back into form to finish the season strongly.
PREDICTION: Liverpool 2-3 Chelsea
