FPL Updates

To kick things off we have changed our tactic of banking on two clean sheets, but have still doubled up once! Cech is our man between the sticks for us this week, with his team mate, Hector Bellerin also in defence. Our two other defenders are Baines and Demichelis, who both have reasonable fixtures this week.

In the middle we have 4 players who do have the potential to score some big points. First off is the ever reliable Mesut Ozil, need we say more about this lad? He just loves an assist! Coming back from injury, and back in our team is Jordan Henderson. A fine performance from Shaqiri last week against Manchester City has earned himself a spot in this week’s team, hopefully he won’t be a one week wonder! To complete this week’s midfield is Kevin De Bruyne, who also is our captain for the week.

Finally, up top we start a front three of Lukaku, Ighalo and Kane. Hopefully all three keep up their good form and score us some big points…

Now onto FPL Avids and his team:

FPL Avids

This season has perhaps been the most unpredictable one in years. Who would have thought that pretty much halfway through the season that Leicester would’ve been top and Chelsea, the reigning champions, would be closer to the relegation spots than they are to West Brom who sit in 13th. Absolutely mental.

A stat worth noting that I tweet out regularly on @FPLAvids is that Leicester have only lost 2 of their last 24 Premier League matches so it shouldn’t come as a surprise, they fully deserve to be where they are! Anyway, enough with the intro, time to make some money!

Adopting the same sort of tactic that I normally use I’ve picked out a few key, easier fixtures. Man City are off the back of beating Borussia Monchengladbach 4-2 midweek in the Champions League, somehow topping the group despite losing to Juventus twice. They’ll be looking to recover from the Saturday lunchtime defeat away at Stoke at home to Swansea, who are having a tough time. I can see this one being 3 or 4 nil. I’ve lumped for the double defensive duo of SagnaOtamendi and De Bruyne to cover the attack. I would have gone for Sterling, but he’s listed as a forward in the Premier Punt game.

Spurs are at home to Newcastle this week. Despite the Toon’s great display against Liverpool, I can’t see them repeating the performance against a Spurs side who still haven’t lost since the opening day. Dier in defence, Eriksen in midfield and Kane up top cover all the bases for me.

I’ve picked 2 Palace players despite a tricky fixture at home to Southampton. Saints haven’t been poor, but just haven’t lived up to last season’s hype. Hennessey in for a budget pick and Bolasie for his trickery.

Completing my side are Ozil, Deeney and Shaqiri. All three played well last week and I reckon they’ll continue the form. Ozil’s currently the most in-form midfielder in the league, Deeney’s scored 5 in his last 6, while Shaqiri assisted 2 against City while he should’ve scored a few too.

Note: Both teams are subject to change. May the best FPL manager win!
