Captaincy Analysis – FPL Gameweek 8 Tips – Fantasy Premier League Tips

Gameweek 8 is the last set of Premier League fixtures before the international break, so it is vital to make the most of it! Before we look at this week’s captaincy picks, here’s how last week’s captaincy analysis did:

1. Sergio Aguero – 8 points
2. Harry Kane – 13 points
3. Richarlison – 3 points
Differential – Jamie Vardy – 8 points
Gamble – Eden Hazard – 10 points

Now onto this week’s selections…

1. Harry Kane (CAR)

After a couple of blanks in a row, a few (including me) were starting to doubt if Kane was fit enough to continue playing the full 90 every week. He’s responded with 3 goals in two games, and his next fixture is against Cardiff, who have struggled massively this season. They’ve kept two clean sheets, but conceded 12 goals in the 3 games against the top 6, which is definitely proof that Kane could certainly end up with a few goals this Saturday.

2. Eden Hazard (SOU)

It pains me to admit it, but Hazard has definitely been the best player so far this season in the league. He’s scored 6 goals so far, an impressive record considering his lack of game time at the start of the season, and he probably should have more as he was denied by a brilliant save from Allison last time out. This week Chelsea take on Southampton away, another team who have struggled defensively this season, however not as much as Cardiff, hence why Hazard features lower than Kane this week. Chelsea are still yet to lose this season, and will hope to still have that record come Sunday afternoon.

3. Alexandre Lacazette (FUL)

If you haven’t noticed it by now, Lacazette has yet to produce a blank since gameweek 3. He has scored two and assisted four in that time and is clearly the standout player in Emery’s team so far, putting in much better performances than his Gabonese teammate, Aubameyang. Lacazette takes on a Fulham side yet to even keep a clean sheet so far this season, so with this in mind, an Arsenal goal looks likely and it’s just a matter of who will it be; Lacazette, or Aubameyang? Considering his form, you have to contemplate Lacazette for captaincy, especially considering his ownership is only at 7%!

Differential – Jamie Vardy (EVE)

The trio of Vardy, Iheanacho and Maddison is starting to become more evident with every passing game. In every gameweek this season, at least one of the trio has scored/assisted, impressive considering that it’s Maddison’s first season and Vardy missed 3 of those games. Vardy has been picked this week as he’s only owned by 4% of FPL managers and he absolutely loves a game against Everton, scoring four goals and assisting three times in his last 7 games against the blues.

Gamble – Sergio Aguero (LIV)

Despite his goal scoring record in the league, he has a very worrying stat against Liverpool. He has never scored against Liverpool away from home, plus, he has only played the full 90 minutes twice this season, citing injuries as the reason. He’s a huge gamble this week because of these reasons, despite the fact that Man City score so many goals as he seems to miss out on them due to his early departure from the pitch. Liverpool have been top class at the back this season as well, so it will be a very difficult game for Aguero, if he even starts. He started in the Champions League fixture midweek, which could indicate that Jesus could start the game against Liverpool.
