Differential Picks – FPL Gameweek 7 Tips – Fantasy Premier League Tips

It was another decent selection of differential picks in gameweek 6. Arsenal’s Aaron Ramsey proved the stats right, picking up 2 assists in a 9 point showing, while James Maddison scored again and Raheem Sterling grabbed an assist ahead of a tasty home fixture against Brighton for Manchester City. Chelsea’s Olivier Giroud was surprisingly unable to unlock the West Ham United defence, and though Heung-Min Son was unable to register fantasy points, he did indeed start and remains one for the watchlist. Gameweek 7 brings with it some interesting options.

JOHANN BERG GUDMUNDSSON – £5.9m – TSB: 0.9% – Cardiff (A)

Burnley had a horrific start to this campaign, losing 4 of the first 5 games. However, Sean Dyche’s men battered in-form Bournemouth 4-0 at Turf Moor to suggest they are finally ready to step up and gather the points expected of a side that earned a Europa League spot last season. Burnley face the two worst defences in the league in their next two games against Huddersfield and Cardiff, and will be hoping Johann Berg Gudmundsson will be the man to breach them. Gudmundsson scored 2 goals and assisted 9 last season for the Clarets, and managed another 2 assists against Bournemouth in gameweek 6. As their direct free-kick and general set-piece taker, Gudmundsson will expect to have a hand in some attacking returns over the next couple of gameweeks.

RAUL JIMENEZ – £5.5m – TSB: 5.7% – Southampton (H)

One could be forgiven for not touting Wolves’ forward Raul Jimenez as a great fantasy option going into this season. The Mexican striker scored just 6 league goals for top club Benfica last time out and is playing for a promoted side in a much tougher division. However, Wolves have looked great in the English top flight so far with just 1 loss in their first 6 games and Jimenez has benefited from the attacking style of the new boys. Jimenez has managed more shots than Kane, Lukaku, Mane and Hazard so far this season, and though he hasn’t been clinical, he has contributed to 3 goals. Wolves don’t play another top 6 side until gameweek 11, and begin their nice run with a home game this weekend against Southampton. The Saints have won just 1 game so far this campaign and after throwing away 3 points at home to Brighton before a toothless away defeat to Liverpool, they don’t look in great shape travelling to Molineux.

DELE ALLI – £9.0m – TSB: 3.9% – Huddersfield (A)

England international Dele Alli sat on the bench for the majority of Tottenham’s gameweek 6 fixture at Brighton after hamstring issues meant he was not fully fit to start. Despite boss Mauricio Pochettino vowing to play it safe with Alli, suggesting his side cannot afford to take risks with his fitness, Alli captained Spurs in their midweek League Cup fixture against Watford. Not only did he manage the full 90 minutes, Alli won a penalty, scored it and scored another in the penalty shootout. He ranks by far the highest of all Tottenham players (excluding Harry Kane) in the fantasy threat index and with Christian Eriksen missing this weekend, Alli could be key. He has managed over 20 direct goal contributions in each of the last 3 seasons and will expect to begin his push for those numbers against a Huddersfield side bottom of the league table with the joint worst goal difference.

ANDRE SCHURRLE – £5.9m – TSB: 5.0% – Everton (A)

Andre Schurrle was widely dismissed by many fantasy managers upon his arrival at Fulham, having only scored a solitary goal in a stop start season in Germany at Wolfsburg. However, the ex-Chelsea winger has looked impressive in a very attacking Fulham side, scoring 2 goals in 5 starts and averaging over 3 shots per game. Fulham have been poor at the back so will be relying on attackers Schurrle and Aleksander Mitrovic to lead from the front if they are to escape the drop this campaign. The Cottagers next face a poor Everton defence that has conceded in every game so far this season, and with Schurrle supporting Mitrovic in a 4-4-2 in Fulham’s gameweek 6 second half against Watford, he looks good for attacking returns.

DEANDRE YEDLIN – £4.5m – TSB: 1.1% – Leicester (H)

Newcastle currently sit in the relegation zone, without a win from the first 6 games. However, they have a great chance to turn their season around from gameweek 7. Manchester United are the only top 6 side the Magpies face in their next 12 games and they are coming off a clean sheet in a tricky fixture away to Crystal Palace in gameweek 6. At a budget price, DeAndre Yedlin looks the pick of the Newcastle assets as it stands. Yedlin tops the Newcastle defence’s ICT index with good reason, having picked up a goal and assist already this season. The American will look to roam forward against a Leicester team that have conceded in each of their 3 away games so far, and clean sheets appear in the offing for Rafael Benitez’s side.

Good luck all!
