Fantasy Football Potential – Jonas Lossl

Huddersfield have signed Mainz goalkeeper Jonas Lossl for an undisclosed fee after triggering a clause in his loan deal. Lossl spent last campaign with the Terriers on a temporary basis, but has now made the move to Huddersfield permanent.

The Dane played 22 times for his national side at youth level and made his senior debut for Denmark, coming on as a substitute for Kasper Schmeichel in a friendly against Scotland. Jonas Lossl also made the 23 man squad that travelled to Russia, but failed to make an appearance in the World Cup as Denmark were knocked out in the round of 16 by Switzerland.

Wagner commented:

“We knew that Jonas had big quality when he joined us on loan and that has certainly proven to be the case. The quality of his distribution has been perfect for the way we play, but he’s also made big, big saves at important moments. I also think we’ve seen him improve as the season has gone on.”

Fantasy Premier League Potential (4.5m)

Lossl played every single game of last season for Huddersfield registering 10 clean sheets in the process. He made over a century of saves across the season leading to him claiming 11 bonus points. Two of those saves came from shots from the penalty spot, saving penalties from both Alexis Sanchez and Mo Salah.

With all these points flooding in, the Huddersfield shot stopper scored 138 points, securing a place in the top 10 keepers in Fantasy Premier League last season. Lossl surprisingly, made an assist last season and was the only keeper to do so, setting up Laurent Depoitre to score against Manchester United in a famous win. Lossl’s price of £4.5m makes him very hard to ignore and he will be on many FPL managers’ radars.

Huddersfield’s first five fixtures are as follows: Chelsea (H), Manchester City (A), Cardiff (H), Everton (A) and Crystal Palace (H). It’s a tough beginning for Huddersfield who will probably be up against it for the majority of the season once again.
