Fantasy Football Potential – Ken Sema

Watford have made the signing of Ostersunds’ winger Ken Sema for a reported fee of around £1 million. The Swede made 58 Allsvenskan appearances scoring 8 times. Before this, he played his football in the Swedish second division for Ljungskile, where he impressed, scoring 14 times in 70 matches.

Sema has since made his debut for the Sweden national time when he came off the bench in a convincing 6-0 victory over Slovakia, in January 2017. Unfortunately for Sema, despite playing a further three internationals in 2018 he was left out of Sweden’s World Cup squad to go to Russia.

Speaking to watfordfc.com, Sema said:

“I can’t wait to get started now. I like seeing all the supporters in the crowd enjoying themselves and hopefully I can help contribute to that. People say I’m skilful, I’m fast and I’m strong, and I also like scoring goals and making assists. I’m a skilful player but I also like to help my team on the pitch, and I will always do my best.”

Fantasy Premier League Potential (5.0m)

Looking at his reported fee, it suggests that Sema will be somewhat of a squad player, but with a couple of injuries he could be straight into the starting line-up. Javi Gracia has the likes of Gerard Deulofeu and Richarlison at his disposal so it will be difficult for Sema to break into the first team immediately.

If he does however, he could become a great option for Fantasy Premier League managers. His price tag of just £5.0m makes him very intriguing. He has proved to be able to score against Premier League opposition. Sema scored in Ostersunds’ 2-1 win in the Europa League against Arsenal, but it wasn’t enough to avoid a 2-4 aggregate loss to the Gunners.

Watford’s first five fixtures are as follows: Brighton (H), Burnley (A), Crystal Palace (H), Tottenham (H) and Manchester United (H). It’s a mixed bag for Watford to start but I don’t expect Sema to play a sufficient amount in this set of matches.
