Fantasy Football Potential – Vicente Guaita

Crystal Palace have signed highly rated Spanish keeper Vicente Guaita from Getafe in a free transfer. They fought off competition from arguably bigger clubs to secure the signature of the 31 year old.

Guaita has previously played his whole career in Spain, 108 games for Getafe and 76 in a Valencia shirt. With Julian Speroni only getting older, Crystal Palace have much needed a decent keeper in their ranks.

Crystal Palace Chairman Steve Parish said:

“We are delighted to sign one of La Liga’s best goalkeepers and pleased that we beat off the competition for his signature. We very much look forward to Vicente joining in pre-season training and helping us push on in the Premier League.”

Fantasy Premier League Potential (4.5m)

Guaita has been generously priced at £4.5m which could be a bargain, as since Roy Hodgson took over Palace have been brilliant and Guaita could be exactly what they need to break into the top half again.

If the likes of Mamadou Sakho and James Tompkins can stay fit, then I can see the Eagles keeping many clean sheets this season and Guaita being a fantastic option for a £4.5m goalkeeper.

Crystal Palace’s first five fixtures are as follows: Fulham (A), Liverpool (H), Watford (A), Southampton (H) and Huddersfield (A). With these fixtures, Guaita could pick up a couple of clean sheets and the easier fixtures do continue into October.
