Fantasy Premier League Preview – Gameweek 17 – FPL Tips

Gameweek 17 is fast approaching and after a brilliant gameweek 16 we are already looking at the next gameweek, so without further ado, here’s our fantasy Premier League preview for gameweek 17:

Manchester City vs Everton

You would think that a home game for City at this point in time with the current form they are in would be a walk in the park but this time around they face an Everton side who might be able to cause them a few problems. Nevertheless, the Citizens with their loss in the previous gameweek to Chelsea will be looking to get back to winning ways.

STAR MAN: Raheem Sterling (11.6m)

This young man is playing amazing football at the moment and he could be the one to hurt the Toffees in this game.

PREDICTION: Manchester City 2-1 Everton

Crystal Palace vs Leicester

Crystal Palace will be aiming to bounce back from a 3-2 loss to West Ham when they welcome Leicester City to Selhurst Park. The Eagles have conceded six goals in their previous two league fixtures, but they are definitely capable of grabbing something from Saturday’s match against Leicester City, who failed to impress in a 2-0 home loss to Tottenham at the weekend. The Foxes have been having their ups and downs this season and, as a result, they occupy 9th position in the league ahead of the trip to London. Seeing that Crystal Palace are tough to beat at home, a close encounter is on the cards.

STAR MAN: Jamie Vardy (8.8m)

Vardy might be fit in time for this game and hence he does seem to be the threat to that Palace back line.

PREDICTION: Crystal Palace 1-1 Leicester

Huddersfield vs Newcastle

Despite producing a fine performance against Arsenal at the weekend, Huddersfield Town eventually suffered a 1-0 loss to Unai Emery’s troops at the Emirates. The Terriers were more than unfortunate not to grab something from the game, but their display against the capital club is surely giving fans a reason for optimism ahead of upcoming challenges. Huddersfield Town are eager to escape the relegation zone and we predict that they are going to put an end to their three-match losing run in the English top flight. The Magpies have been in a fine form of late, but we feel that the hosts will want this win more than the visitors and so we are tempted to put our money on David Wagner’s team. Belgian attacker Depoitre, who made life difficult for Arsenal defenders, is likely to lead the line for the hosts against Newcastle United.

STAR MAN: Zanka (4.4m)

Defensively resolute and always a threat from set pieces, he could well be the deciding scorer in this fixture.

PREDICTION: Huddersfield 1-0 Newcastle

Tottenham vs Burnley

Despite the fact that top scorer Harry Kane started the game from the bench, Tottenham did well to beat Leicester City at the King Power Stadium without any difficulties. Korean ace Son produced a splendid display in the 2-0 win over the Foxes and we predict that he is going to pose a big threat for the Burnley defenders in Saturday’s match at Wembley. Harry Kane is set to return to the starting line-up, meaning that a home win should be considered. Burnley have been struggling to find their best form in the first half of the season, therefore, we do not believe that they are capable of claiming a major scalp on matchday 17.

STAR MAN: Harry Kane (12.5m)

He will be looking to get on top of the scoring chart this weekend.

PREDICTION: Tottenham 3-0 Burnley

Watford vs Cardiff

Cardiff City will be looking to build on a hard-fought for 1-0 win over Southampton when they take on Watford at Vicarage Road on Saturday afternoon. The Hornets have been totally unpredictable in the 2018/2019 season, but they are ten points clear of the relegation zone and nothing else matters. Watford have faced a tough fixture list in both November and December and it is no surprise they failed to grab something from their previous two home fixtures against Liverpool and Man City. The time has come for Watford to return to winning ways at Vicarage Road and seeing that the Bluebirds have been struggling on their travels this season, there is a big value in betting on the hosts. In their last meeting in a competitive match, Watford recorded a 1-0 win over Cardiff, which is yet another reason why a home win should be considered.

STAR MAN: Roberto Pereyra (6.2m)

Looking at his form this season he is an absolute bargain at 6.2m and managers should be looking into the attacking prowess he gives to the Watford attack.

PREDICTION: Watford 2-1 Cardiff

Wolves vs Bournemouth

Wolves come into this game on the back of an exhilarating 94th minute winner against the Toon and as a result sit as high as 10th on the league table. Bournemouth on the contrary had a mini hiccup last time around which saw them fall to 8th place. Howe will be looking to get his side back on track, and we can expect nothing but an end to end game with 2 attack minded sides going head to head.

STAR MAN: Raul Jimenez (6.1m)

Having hit the post last time around, he will be poised to get on the scoresheet in front of the home fans.

PREDICTION: Wolves 2-1 Bournemouth

Fulham vs West Ham

Fulham have had nothing but a shambolic start to life under new manager Ranieri, though they showed signs of positivity in the 2nd half against Manchester United. A perfect opportunity for the Hammers to sneak in the 3 points.

STAR MAN: Felipe Anderson (7.3m)

The Brazilian will be key to the Hammers going forward in the absence of star man Arnautovic.

PREDICTION: Fulham 1-3 West Ham

Brighton vs Chelsea

The Blues come into this game on the back of achieving the impossible and overcoming Pep’s City side; that too in some fashion. After such a result, we really don’t think Brighton will be an opponent to worry much about.

STAR MAN: Eden Hazard (10.9m)

The Belgian can single handedly decide games.

PREDICTION: Brighton 0-2 Chelsea

Southampton vs Arsenal

The Saints are on their longest winless run since 1989. The perfect opportunity for the Gunners to pounce and secure the much needed away win.

STAR MAN: Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (11.5m)

The Gunners always have that cutting edge with him up-front.

PREDICTION: Southampton 0-3 Arsenal

Liverpool vs Manchester United

Super Sunday ends with undoubtedly the game of the gameweek, with 2 giants of the league going head to head. Liverpool come into this fixture after grinding out a hard fought 1-0 win in the Champions League. United on the other hand suffered a shock defeat against Spanish side Valencia and by the looks of it, it seems Jose will certainly need to have something planned for this must win game.

STAR MAN: Marcus Rashford (6.9m)

A goal and 4 assists in the last 3 games. He could have something to say in this massive clash.

PREDICTION: Liverpool 1-1 Manchester United
