Fantasy Premier League Preview – Gameweek 20 – FPL Tips

With New Year around the corner & the 20th gameweek of the season upon us, we are beyond the halfway point of the season. This weekend offers an exciting Premier League fixture list, of which could bring some huge fantasy football points! Here’s our insight on how each fixture could pan out & a few players we think could give you a much needed boost in rank.

Brighton vs Everton

After holding Arsenal to a draw on Boxing Day, Brighton will be looking to put an end to their four-game winless run in the Premier League when they host Everton at the AMEX Stadium. The Seagulls aim to regain their place in the top ten and we predict that they are going to adopt an attack-minded approach in Saturday’s football game. The Toffees, on the other hand, experienced all sorts of problems at the back in back-to-back defeats to the likes of Manchester City and Tottenham, but they proved their worth in a thrilling 5-1 win at Burnley. Marco Silva’s men regained their much-needed confidence, but beating Brighton on the road is easier said than done. Seeing as the two teams are almost level on points in the Premier League, we predict that they are going to share the spoils on matchday 20.

STAR MAN: Glenn Murray (6.5m)

He can be the danger man up-front as so often he has the tendency to cause problems for defences.

PREDICTION: Brighton 1-1 Everton

Fulham vs Huddersfield

Fulham have been struggling this season. Serbian tactician Slavisa Jokanovic was sacked following a poor run of results, with Claudio Ranieri taking over the reins. The Cottagers have registered only one win under the Italian coach and, as a result, they sit in the relegation zone in the Premier League. The capital club face a must-win situation in the relegation six-pointer against Huddersfield Town, but this game will be anything but a walk in the park for the hosts. The Terriers, on the other hand are on a six-match losing run ahead of their last game of the year. Both sides are desperate to move away from the relegation zone, which is the main reason why we predict both Fulham and Huddersfield Town are going to find the net in Saturday’s match.

STAR MAN: Aleksandr Mitrovic (6.7m)

He has been silent the last couple of weeks and he will be looking to get on the scoresheet to earn his team a victory.

PREDICTION: Fulham 1-1 Huddersfield Town

Leicester vs Cardiff

Following a 1-0 win at Chelsea, Leicester City claimed yet another major scalp in the 2018/2019 Premier League season, with the team beating star-studded Manchester City at the King Power. The Foxes are brimming with confidence ahead of their last game of the year and we predict that they are going to go all guns blazing against Cardiff City this weekend. A man to watch in the home team will be, as always, Jamie Vardy, who provided an assist for Mark Albrighton in the 2-1 win over Pep Guardiola’s troops. The Bluebirds, on the other hand, quickly bounced back from a heavy 5-1 loss to Manchester United, with the team sharing the spoils with Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park. The Welsh outfit aim to move away from the danger zone, but seeing as Leicester City have found their best form of late, we believe that the newcomers are going to return home empty-handed.

STAR MAN: James Maddison (6.8m)

He will be that main man in this Leicester midfield who will probe the Cardiff defence.

PREDICTION: Leicester 2-0 Cardiff

Tottenham vs Wolves

Tottenham will be aiming to build on a thrilling 5-0 win over Bournemouth when they host Wolverhampton at Wembley Stadium on matchday 20. Spurs have been scoring goals for fun of late and thanks to the triumph over the Cherries they climbed to second place in the standings. Harry Kane will be the man to watch in the home team, but South Korea international Son, who scored a brace against Bournemouth, is likely to pose a big threat for the opposition defenders as well. Wolves on the other hand shared the spoils with Fulham at Craven Cottage, but we do not believe that they are capable of spoiling Spurs’ party in London. The capital club are eyeing their sixth consecutive win and taking everything into account, we predict that Nuno Espirito Santo’s Portuguese colony is going to return home empty-handed.

STAR MAN: Harry Kane (12.5m)

In the chase for the Golden boot he will be looking to catch up with his rival Aubameyang.

PREDICTION: Tottenham 2-1 Wolves

Watford vs Newcastle

Watford will be looking to make amends for a 2-1 loss to Chelsea when they welcome Newcastle United to Vicarage Road. The Hornets remain in the top half of the standings and, no doubt, will want to put icing on the cake on a very successful year with a victory over the Magpies. Experienced attacker Troy Deeney has been in fine form this term and we predict that he is going to pose a big threat for the opposition defenders. Newcastle United are not regarded as good travellers and seeing as they experienced all sorts of problems at the back in a 4-0 loss to Liverpool, we are tempted to put our money on the Hornets, who aim to stay in the race for a place in European competitions. In their last meeting at Vicarage Road, Watford recorded a 2-1 win over Newcastle.

STAR MAN: Roberto Pereyra (6.2m)

Watford’s main man in attacking terms will have to deliver to get his team the desired 3 points.

PREDICTION: Watford 1-0 Newcastle

Liverpool vs Arsenal

With 2 English giants going head to head, Saturday ends with undoubtedly the game of the gameweek. Liverpool come into this game high on confidence with 6 points separating them and the side placed 2nd on the table, Tottenham. Arsenal on the contrary dropped some points last time around, making the fight for the Top 4 even more tough. Both sides desperately need to win this fixture, and for us fans we can expect nothing but goals.

STAR MAN: Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (11.5m)

He needs to be in supreme form if the Gunners are to take some points home.

PREDICTION: Liverpool 2-2 Arsenal

Crystal Palace vs Chelsea

The Eagles have been playing some decent football of late, having overcome giants Manchester City, just a week ago. The boys are high on confidence, and if they have any chance of getting a result against Sarri and his boys, it is now.

STAR MAN: Andros Townsend (6.0m)

His pace could be something that could trouble the Chelsea defence, who haven’t kept a clean sheet in the last 3 fixtures.

PREDICTION: Crystal Palace 1-0 Chelsea

Burnley vs West Ham

The Hammers have been slowly and steadily racking up the results, and as a result they have risen to as high as 9th on the league table. Burnley on the contrary still sit among the relegation scrap with half of the season done and dusted. The perfect opportunity for the Hammers to capitalise and keep their run going.

STAR MAN: Felipe Anderson (7.3m)

3 goals and 2 assists in the last 4 games. You might want to have him in your sides.

PREDICTION: Burnley 0-2 West Ham

Southampton vs Manchester City

This fixture is undoubtedly a must win for the Citizens after having lost 2 games on the trot and subsequently fallen down to 3rd on the league table.

STAR MAN: Sergio Aguero (11.2m)

The little Argentine has to step up and deliver his side the 3 points.

PREDICTION: Southampton 1-3 Manchester City

Manchester United vs Bournemouth

The Red Devils have been on a roll recently, having played some much improved football since the arrival of new boss Solskjaer. With form and the home crowd on their side, all we can see is another dominant United display.

STAR MAN: Paul Pogba (8.0m)

He is indeed the focal point of this new look United attack & will be determined to prove his doubters wrong.

PREDICTION: Manchester United 3-0 Bournemouth
