Fantasy Premier League Preview – Gameweek 21 – FPL Tips

As the tight festive period comes to a close after this round of fixtures, the players will be looking to give it their best and the managers will be looking to end on a good note. Here are some tips as to how you can go about your selections before we end this stint of games.

Happy New Year to you all folks! Hope you have a great year ahead!

Everton vs Leicester

The Toffees come into this fixture on the back of a disappointing defeat at the hands of the Seagulls. The Foxes were no different having dropped points at home against Cardiff. This fixture certainly promises goals with the home crowd more likely to prevail.

STAR MAN: Gylfi Sigurdsson (7.3m)

Having been started from the bench against Brighton, he will be poised to prove why he deserves his place in the starting line-up.

PREDICTION: Everton 2-1 Leicester

Arsenal vs Fulham

The Gunners come into this fixture on the back of being hammered by league leaders Liverpool. Emery will be looking to make amends and get back on track as soon as possible, with an in-form Manchester United waiting to pounce on their 5th place.

STAR MAN: Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (11.4m)

The league’s top scorer really needs to lead his side from the front.

PREDICTION: Arsenal 2-0 Fulham

Cardiff vs Tottenham

A must win game for Pochettino and his boys having crumbled last time out against an exhilarating Wolves performance.

STAR MAN: Harry Kane (12.6m)

The England captain is certainly the focal point in the Spurs attack.

PREDICTION: Cardiff 0-3 Tottenham

Bournemouth vs Watford

The Cherries come into this fixture on the back of 2 big defeats against 2 of the biggest sides in the league, and as a result of which they have fallen out of the Top 10. Eddie Howe and his boys are in desperate need of a result, and a new year couldn’t be a better time to turn things around, and start off a fresh.

STAR MAN: Callum Wilson (6.7m)

Howe will certainly be looking towards his talisman to deliver.

PREDICTION: Bournemouth 3-1 Watford

Chelsea vs Southampton

Chelsea are comfortably placed 4th in the league table courtesy of their run of 5 wins on the trot. Sarri will certainly be looking to rise further up and challenge the league leaders and with the firepower they have in-house, the blues should comfortably sail in this fixture.

STAR MAN: Eden Hazard (11.1m)

The Belgian has 3 goals and 5 assists in the last 7 games. Captain material?

PREDICTION: Chelsea 2-0 Southampton

Huddersfield vs Burnley

Situation at the John Smith’s Stadium is alarming ahead of the visit of Burnley. Huddersfield Town are on a seven-game losing run in the Premier League and, as a result, they dropped to the bottom position in the standings. The Clarets, on the other hand, experienced all sorts of problems at the back in a 5-1 loss to Everton, but they showed character in a routine 2-0 win over West Ham United. However, seeing as Burnley are not regarded as good travellers, we predict that they are going to share the spoils with Huddersfield. When the two teams met at Turf Moor earlier this season, they played out a 1-1 draw.

STAR MAN: Ashley Barnes (5.6m)

He has been key for the Clarets in the recent weeks and should be on the watchlist this time around as well.

PREDICTION: Huddersfield 1-1 Burnley

West Ham vs Brighton

After defeating Southampton at St. Mary’s Stadium, West Ham suffered a 2-0 loss to Burnley in their last league fixture. The Hammers have been totally unpredictable in the 2018/2019 season, but they are considered favourites to win Wednesday’s match against Brighton. Manuel Pellegrini, though, has some injury worries ahead of the visit of Brighton and that is the main reason why a home win should maybe not be considered. The Seagulls have been showing signs of improvement of late. Following a 1-1 draw with Arsenal, Brighton defeated Everton in their last game of the year. The Seagulls aim to climb into the top half of the standings, but seeing as they are almost level on points with West Ham, we believe that there is big value in betting on a draw in this one.

STAR MAN: Marko Arnautovic (6.9m)

He will be looking to make a comeback with a good performance at home.

PREDICTION: West Ham 1-1 Brighton

Wolves vs Crystal Palace

Against all odds, Wolverhampton defeated Tottenham at Wembley Stadium in their last league match. The Wolves came from behind to beat Spurs in London, with the team producing their best performance of the season. The newcomers aim to keep on climbing the standings and seeing as Crystal Palace failed to impress in a 1-0 loss to Chelsea, we are tempted to put our money on the hosts. The Eagles failed to create a decent opportunity to score in the local derby at the weekend and seeing as Wolves are a real force to be reckoned with at home, we predict that the capital club will return home empty-handed. You should bear in mind that Wolverhampton recorded a hard-fought for 1-0 win over Crystal Palace in the first half of the season. Matt Doherty scored the winner then.

STAR MAN: Helder Costa (4.8m)

He has been so good on the attack for Wolves and it won’t be a surprise if he comes up with the goods yet again this week.

PREDICTION: Wolves 2-1 Crystal Palace

Newcastle vs Manchester United

Manchester United have been in splendid form ever since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer took over the reins. Following back-to-back wins over Cardiff City and Huddersfield Town, the Red Devils outclassed Bournemouth in their last league match and they must be high on confidence ahead of Wednesday’s football game. Paul Pogba looks unstoppable at the moment and all eyes will be on the France international when Man Utd face Newcastle United at St. James’ Park. The Magpies, on the other hand, are determined to secure Premier League survival, but that is easier said than done. Newcastle United are only four points clear of the relegation zone and seeing as the Red Devils have found their best form of late, we believe an away win is on the cards. A man to watch in the home team will be Salomon Rondon, who found the net in a 1-1 draw with Watford.

STAR MAN: Anthony Martial (7.3m)

Can he be the man to provide the cutting edge to this attack against this Newcastle defence?

PREDICTION: Newcastle 1-2 Manchester United

Manchester City vs Liverpool

All eyes will be on the Etihad Stadium when Manchester City and Liverpool face each other on matchday 21. The Citizens desperately needed a win against Southampton at the weekend and they managed to get one. The title holders bounced back from back-to-back losses to Crystal Palace and Leicester City, but they are still seven points behind the Reds, who are leading the Premier League standings. This has to go down as a must-win game for Pep Guardiola’s troops, but beating Jurgen Klopp’s team at Anfield won’t be easy. You should bear in mind that the Reds defeated the Citizens in four of their last five meetings in all competitions.

STAR MAN: Sergio Aguero (11.2m)

A big game player who needs to step up for his side in the biggest game of this season in the league for the Citizens.

PREDICTION: Manchester City 3-2 Liverpool
