FPL Updates Gameweek 22 – Fantasy Premier League Tips

The hectic Christmas period is finally over. 4 gameweek in 13 days! It’s safe to say we’ve done rather well out of it going from 77k to 26k in that short space of time. 63 points was enough for a small green arrow.

It was a week that consisted of our players firing or blanking and not much in between. 3 double digit hauls, 1 6 pointer and the rest blanked. A captaincy blank and a green arrow is a rarity so a big rise could have been on the cards if the captaincy was nailed.

Wan-Bissaka was this week’s only clean sheet in his 2-0 win at Wolves. Digne, Fabianski and Doherty all blanked. The latter had a glorious chance to score which he failed to do. On the bench Bednarek picked up a clean sheet against Chelsea.

Captain Hazard was a huge let down with his side failing to score against Southampton. Morata inclusion didn’t help his hopes. Pogba, Richarlison and Salah also failed to return. Son continues his purple patch with a bakers dozen of points. Goal, assist and a couple of bonus points and it’s a shame to see him off next week.

The strikers were the standout players this week. 3 goals and 2 assists between them. Kane scored, assisted and brought home all 3 bonus points against a poor Cardiff side. The Deeney punt has well and truly paid off after 2 gameweeks. A brace, an assist, maximum bonus points along with a naughty yellowcard saw him score 15. Kamara also netted a goal on the bench.

Transfers: I’m planning to have 2 for next week with the aim of moving Son on as he heads to Asia. Marcus Rashford is also a player I have in mind for next week. With 2 fts I was tempted to burn one but I’ve decided to save some cash by bringing in Guaita for Fabianski. West Ham are without Balbuena for a number of weeks and the saving of £0.4m is going to be helpful.

Home games for Guaita, Wan-Bissaka and Digne but both are against 6 against each other last week. Alexander-Arnold is away Brighton. I’m expecting at least 1 clean sheet.

Son plays Man United in his final game before the Asian Games and he’s been used in every league and Cup game of late while continuing to perform. Pogba is up against Son’s side but took a knock to a reckless Shelvey tackle last week. Hazard has a home game against Newcastle and if he makes back to back blanks, his future will be seriously considered. Meanwhile, I’m optimistic of Salah against any non top 6 side so anything but a return is a let down. Richarlison faces a makeshift shift Bournemouth defence but they have recruited Clyne at right back. I’d still back the Brazilian and I’m giving him the next couple of games while the fixtures are kind to prove why he’s in the team.

Kane’s in a great vein of form and has added assists to his game which greatly helps his bonus points. Facing a Man United side who are still poor defensively should see him have plenty of opportunities. Deeney has a tough away game to Crystal Palace. If he and his team fail to score it won’t be that bad with 2 Palace defenders in the side.

Captain: There were 2 candidates this week, Salah and Hazard. Both have favourable fixtures but Salah has been much more consistent. Morata’s inclusion in the team has hampered Hazard’s output and we won’t know if he starts. Therefore Salah edges it for the armband.
