The side has had another great week and we’ve had 4 green arrows on the trot and attained our highest gameweek rank of the season. 75 points beat the average by 25 and we headed into the international break in a good form. The international break was full of knocks and injury scares and our bench may be rather important this week.
West Ham’s 1-0 defeat to Brighton meant Fabianski scored 3 points. Stranded on the bench with 9 points was Patricio who continues to perform after earning more BPS in a strong Wolves side.
Wan-Bissaka was the only man to blank in our defence after Palace failed to keep Wolves out. The eagles have only managed a single clean sheet at home this season. The reason why Palace didn’t keep a clean sheet was down to our man, Matt Doherty. His goal, clean sheet and maximum bonus meant he brought home a whopping 15 points! The Irishman has averaged 13.5 points in his 2 games for the team. FPL gold. Marcos Alonso’s 6 pointer rounded out the defence but he’s still yet to register an attacking return in 4 weeks.
In the middle of the park, Ryan Fraser could only manage an assist in a 4-0 trauncing of Watford in their own backyard. He’s been disappointing in the last few weeks but his price still makes him great value. Richarlison netted in Everton’s win over Leicester while new signing Maddison failed to return. Salah blanked for the second week in a row in the goaless affair against Man City. A stellar performance from our captain saw him score one and assist Morata in a 3-0 win on the south coast. Hazard is in red hot form.
A double blank up top with Crystal Palace yet to score at home this season. Zaha continues to frustrate and his run in the side is close to ending. Aguero blanked in the 0-0 game between the 2 favourites for the league. The cagey affair could’ve had a winner but Mahrez blazed over from a penalty which would’ve been Sergio’s if he hadn’t have been brought off early.
Transfers:
Zaha’s picked up a groin problem on international duty and with 4 of his next 5 games against last season’s top 6, it’s a perfect time to move him on and Hodgson has said “he hasn’t trained since the injury.” I’m looking short term as the wildcard will be unleashed soon. My 3 targets were Mitrovic, Wilson and Jimenez but I’ve decided to opt for the red hot Bournemouth striker. His upcoming two games couldn’t get much nicer and he’s looked very promising in both assist and goal potential.
Onto our gameweek 9 side:
Rui Patricio is a no brainer. Wolves are solid at the back and look like this season’s Burnley of last season but on another level. Watford are coming off the back of a 4-0 loss at home and it doesn’t look good for them this week.
In defence Doherty double up the Wolves defence. September’s player of the month was called up to his national team and he’s in the form of his life. If there ever was a must own at the back, he’s the one. Alonso faces Man Utd at home which would initially feel like a likely blank but there’s definitely point potential there. This game last season ended in a 1-0 win for the blues and I can this see this game being rather cagey and low scoring, much like the Man City vs Liverpool game. Alexander-Arnold is recalled to side the after a 2 gamweek spell on the bench for our side. He was benched against Man City but I fully expect him to regain his place against Huddersfield.
Fraser picked up a knock another knock on international duty and as usual, Eddie Howe didn’t give us a definite answer “He’s been carrying a hamstring injury for last three four weeks, it will be a late call on him. If not this match then hopefully the next one. Isn’t long term.” If he doesn’t feature, the trustworthy AWB will come off the bench. Richarlison’s upcoming run of games alternate between kind home games and tricky away fixtures up until gameweek 16. He’s coming off the back off his first goal since his suspension after playing playing up front against Leicester. Maddison debut blank is followed up by a tough fixture away to in form Arsenal. The Gunners aren’t strong defensively so there’s definitely a good chance of Maddison performing Monday night but after this game their upcoming 6 games are a sea of green. The 2 premium assets of Hazard and Salah are on the opposite end of the form scale but Liverpool’s upcoming fixtures should change that. An injury scare over the international break nearly saw him exit the side but he’s he’s trained and fit to face 18th place Huddersfield. Hazard has Man Utd at home and he loves a goal against the Red Devils.
Aguero’s had a full 2 weeks rest to help him recover from his ongoing minor injury. Hopefully he’ll be able to get past the 70th minute mark against Burnley as he hasn’t since gameweek 4. New boy Wilson faces Southampton. His partnership with Josh King has combined 15 goals and assist for the deadly duo but the Norwegian is a small doubt for the game. Bournemouth are in stellar form and are placed 6th in the league, their kind run of games continue for another 2 weeks and I’m backing them to continue this form.
The captaincy goes to Aguero. A 2 week rest should see major improvements on his minor injury and hopefully see him have a longer stint against Burnley. Salah’s form doesn’t make him a captaincy option this week but if he impresses he’ll be the favourite for captaincy against Cardiff in gameweek 10. Hazard is the form man but Mourinho may make it a tight game.
