Gameweek 11 Review – FPL Tips – Fantasy Premier League Tips

Gameweek 11 kicked off at Dean Court where Manchester United arrived to face a Bournemouth side that had blown critics away in the early stages of this Premier League season. Later on, Watford would make the long journey North to face Newcastle United at St. James’ Park, while Cardiff hosted Leicester City. Arsenal welcomed Liverpool to the Emirates in the evening before Spurs travelled to face Wolves. Huddersfield hosted Fulham in a vital clash at the bottom on Monday night. Anyway, here’s the FPL Updates gameweek review…

FPL Gameweek 11 Dream Team

Goalkeeper

Kasper Schmeichel – Leicester City travelled to Wales to face a Cardiff side that were looking to kickstart their season after picking up their first victory of the season against Fulham. Neil Warnock’s side had always been tipped to struggle, but one thing you can guarantee from his sides is a fighting spirit that won’t see the Bluebirds going down without a fight. So, welcoming the Foxes may have been just what the doctor ordered in front of a lively home crowd. In what was a tight affair it always seemed likely that the match may be settled through a solitary goal.

Defenders

Ben Chilwell – One man who has impressed massively this season for Leicester City is Ben Chilwell. He hasn’t looked back since forcing his way into the Foxes side, and his attacking ability as well as his defensive solidity saw him drafted into the England squad last time out. He would assist the winner as his side ground out a 1-0 win away at Cardiff on Saturday. He played the ball into Demarai Gray, who drilled in low to score what would be the winner. Gray was controversially booked, but they won’t be too concerned as he honoured those who passed away in the horrendous events late October.

Christopher Schindler – Huddersfield Town haven’t had it easy this season to say the least. They began the season as many people’s favourites to go down, and their start to the season added fuel to the fire, with the Terriers yet to win in ten matches. However, they welcomed fellow strugglers Fulham to the John Smith’s stadium, and the crowd were right behind them. They would manage their first win of the season when a Christopher Schindler header found its way in off Manchester United loanee Tim Fosu-Mensah.

Seamus Coleman – Everton hosted Brighton and Hove Albion on Saturday and will have started as strong favourites. However, few sides have it easy against the Seagulls, and Marco Silva will have made his players aware of that prior to kick off. One man who has struggled with injuries the past few seasons is Ireland international Seamus Coleman, and the Goodison faithful were delighted to see the marauding full-back pop up to score their side’s second in a 3-1 win. For Brighton it’s back to the drawing board away from home.

Midfielders

Raheem Sterling & Leroy Sané – It’s fair to say you would have feared for Southampton as they made the trip to face Manchester City on Sunday, and you were right to. In a poor display the Saints were thrashed 6-1 to further heap pressure on an under-fire Mark Hughes. The Welshman looks as if he may well receive his P45 should his side fail to pick up all three points against Watford on Saturday. The Saints did manage a goal against the Champions, but it was little consolation against a side that will blow teams away this season.

Richarlison – The start of the show for Everton this season has undoubtedly been the man signed from Watford for £40 million in summer, Richarlison. Despite questions being raised over the price tag, the former Fluminense man has hit the ground running with his new club and was able to notch his 5th and 6th goals of the season in the Toffees’ win over Brighton on Saturday. The goals came either side of a Seamus Coleman goal, and secured the win after Lewis Dunk has equalised for the Seagulls shortly after the opener.

Felipe Anderson – West Ham United splashed £40 million to land Felipe Anderson from Lazio, and he looks to be a solid acquisition after a strong start to the season in claret and blue. He was the star of the show as Manuel Pellegrini’s side ran out 4-2 winners over Burnley at the London Stadium, netting a brace. Despite being pegged at 2-2 with ten minutes remaining, late goals from the afore mentioned Anderson and Javier Hernandez gave the Hammers all three points. Things look to be somewhat back on track after a poor start to the season.

Forwards

Alvaro Morata – There were big expectations when Alvaro Morata arrived at Stamford Bridge having signed from European giants Real Madrid, but after a difficult first season in London many were asking if he was god enough to lead the line for the Blues. He may have gone some way to answering his critics as he scored a brace to see his side past a Crystal Palace side that didn’t make it easy for Mauricio Sarri’s men. Andros Townsend had equalised with a superb take before goals from Morata and Pedro saw the West Londoners through.

Sergio Aguero – Argentine forward Sergio Aguero is never far from a mention in the review, and he was on form yet again as his Manchester City side hammered a sorry Southampton side 6-1 at Eastlands on Sunday afternoon. He managed a goal as well as two assists as his side romped to victory. It looks like it’s going to be hard to stop Pep Guardiola’s side from picking up a second consecutive Premier League title come May. Some may just be hoping to push them to the end of the season at least.

Raul Jimenez – A forward who may have gone under the radar this season is Wolves on-loan Mexican international Raul Jimenez. His Wolves side found themselves 3-0 down at home to Spurs on Saturday night through goals from Harry Kane, Erik Lamela and Lucas Moura, however they wouldn’t go down easy. The former Benfica and Atletico Madrid man was fouled to give Ruben Neves the chance to pull one back from the spot, and Jimenez would then do the same to push the contest right to the wire. Despite their poor form Wolves will take heart from their late showing.
