Gameweek 6 Review – FPL Tips – Fantasy Premier League Tips

Gameweek 6 would see two sides competing to retain their 100% league records after six matches of the new Premier League season. The first of these was Mauricio Sarri’s Chelsea, who would travel to West Ham’s Olympic Stadium on Sunday. This came after fellow table toppers Liverpool had first faced Southampton at Anfield. The week had kicked off with Watford making the short journey to West London to face Fulham, while other notable fixtures included Wolves’ trip to Manchester United. Anyway, here’s the FPL Updates gameweek review.

Gameweek 6 Review

Goalkeeper

Lukasz Fabianski – West Ham United had enjoyed a rotten start to the new Premier League season, having tasted defeat in each of their first four matches. The last time this happened, they were relegated, however they look to have improved since. They took their first points of the campaign last weekend as they recorded a good win at Everton. They built on this result by securing a point on Sunday against then-table toppers Chelsea. Mauricio Sarri’s side will be frustrated to see their perfect start come to an end.

Defenders

Joel Matip & Trent Alexander-Arnold – Liverpool would have an opportunity to climb to the top of the Premier League table with a win over struggling Southampton at Anfield on Saturday. They took the lead in peculiar circumstances as Xherdan Shaqiri’s shot deflected twice to go in off the unfortunate Wesley Hoedt, and things would get worse when Joel Matip headed in a second from a corner not long after. They compounded Mark Hughes’ misery when Mo Salah put in the rebound from a superb Shaqiri freekick.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka – Crystal Palace hosted Newcastle United at Selhurst Park on Saturday in a clash that hardly jumped out at the neutral beforehand. They seemed to be right, as a 0-0 score line reflected a tight match that lacked quality in the final third. One positive that can be taken by Palace was the impressive performance of teenager Aaron Wan-Bissaka, who looks to have nailed down the right-back position for the Eagles. He turned in a man of the match display as he impressed at both ends of the pitch.

Midfielders

Bernardo Silva, Ilkay Gundogan & Riyad Mahrez – Manchester City travelled to Wales to face Cardiff City on Saturday. While most expected a City victory, they would probably have expected a tougher match against the Bluebirds than they got. Instead City ran riot, hitting the newly-promoted side for five on their own patch. Neil Warnock’s side were thoroughly outclassed, as you might have expected given the wealth of international stars that reside on the City bench, let alone their starting line-up each week.

Aaron Lennon – Burnley had been surprising people for all the wrong reasons this season. Since taking a point against Southampton on the opening day the Clarets had failed to record a single point in four Premier League matches. This was compounded as they were well-beaten by newly-promoted Wolves last weekend, and despite the 1-0 score line Sean Dyche’s side will be thankful it wasn’t more. Having been knocked out of the Europa League it gave them the chance to focus their efforts on the league, and they faced Bournemouth at Turf Moor on Saturday…

Forwards

Ashley Barnes – Burnley hosted Bournemouth at Turf Moor looking to get back on track after a dismal start to their season and did so in style. A late first half doubled looked to have given the Clarets their first win of the season as Matej Vydra and Aaron Lennon struck for Sean Dyche’s side against the Cherries. It would be a late second half double that would see the match beyond doubt as Ashley Barnes struck twice in the final ten minutes to the delight of Dyche, who had bemoaned his side’s finishing in previous outings.

Kelechi Iheanacho & Jamie Vardy – Leicester City were looking to bounce back after being well beaten by AFC Bournemouth at Dean Court last weekend, and Huddersfield at the King Power was the perfect opportunity. However, they had to come from behind after Zanka netted early for the visitors. Despite this, the Foxes rallied and levelled not long after through Kelechi Iheanacho. A second half double would complete a good comeback as goal from James Maddison and Jamie Vardy sent the Foxes faithful home happy.
