Gameweek 26 Captaincy Analysis – Fantasy Football Tips

This gameweek stretches over 10 days and we are now enterting the final third of the Premier League season. The deadline is as always, fast approaching, but before we look at this weeks captaincy picks, here’s a breakdown of how last weeks picks did:

1. Mohamed Salah – 16 points
2. Dominic Calvert-Lewin – 2 points
3. Heung-Min Son – 8 points
Differential – Harvey Barnes – 7 points
Gamble – Sergio Aguero – 2 points

Fingers crossed for even better returns this week, here’s our top picks for the up coming gameweek:

1. Mohamed Salah (NOR)

This gameweek is somewhat unique as it spans two weekends. This is of course down to the addition of a winter break by the Premier League this season, Liverpool are one side who have the weekend off and must wait until the 15th to take to the Carrow Road pitch. When the time comes most would expect the Liverpool juggernaut to keep rolling towards their first title since 1990. Liverpool players simply can’t be ignored when looking for your captain and based of recent form Salah appears to be the pick of the bunch. In his last outing, the Egyptian bagged a brace and was unlucky not to leave Anfield with the match ball. If you give Salah the armband, then you can’t go wrong.

2. Sergio Aguero (WHU)

The Argentine striker is another player who is never far from our captaincy articles, he recently became the leading overseas goal scorer in Premier league history which just epitomises his class. While Pep seemed to accept the title, race was over in the aftermath of City’s 2-0 loss against Spurs last week, we would still expect them to beat a West Ham side who have seen little improvement in fortunes since David Moyes returned to East London. When Aguero is fit he will simply never be a bad captaincy option.

3. Heung-Min Son (AVL)

Spurs are another side who must wait until next weekend before returning to premier league action; although they will most likely appreciate the rest after a gruelling victory over Southampton in the FA Cup this week. When Spurs take to the Villa Park pitch next Sunday their line will be led by the in-form Son. With 3 goals in his last 3 games the South Korean international is finding himself in a rich vein of form and will fancy himself to continue his streak against an Aston Villa side with clear defensive frailties.

Differential – Gabriel Martinelli (NEW)

Perhaps you’re looking for someone a bit different for your armband this week. One possible option could be the Arsenal man. The Brazilian has recently been voted Arsenal’s player of the month for January and is central to Mikel Arteta’s plans. Next up for Arsenal is a home game against Newcastle in a mid-table clash. While Martinelli won’t be the first name that comes to mind his recent performances make the youngster worthy of consideration.

Gamble – Jamie Vardy (WOL)

The Leicester forward is enjoying a fine season and currently has 17 league goals to his name. His Leicester side are well on course for a Champions League place and will be looking to take one step closer to the top 4 when they face Wolves next week. While Vardy would usually not be considered a gamble pick, he has not found the net in the league in 2020 which may put some off but as we know Vardy is rarely out of the goals and it would not be a surprise if the goals returned at Molyneux this gameweek.

Thank you for reading and best of luck this week!
