The football just keeps on coming as we look forward to the midweek Fantasy Premier League, with an additional match on the coming weekend, making Game-Week 28 the largest of the season so far.
Aston Villa v West Brom
It has not been a happy start for Tim Sherwood as life as Villa manager and this Midlands derby may not be the greatest spectacle, with The Baggies recording four clean sheets in seven games and are looking much organised.
STAR MAN – Joleon LESCOTT
With multiple league titles already under his belt, Lescott is providing his experience in the WBA backline and is a dominant figure at the back.
Hull City v Sunderland
This fixture plucks together two teams hovering dangerously above the relegation zone and so both will be desperate to pick up a win in the six-pointer. Steve Bruce is struggling with injuries up front whereas Sunderland has been unlucky with some of the officiating.
STAR MAN – Costel PANTILIMON
The gigantic Romanian shot-stopper should not be troubled too much and has been impressive at times since coming in for Mannone.
Southampton v Crystal Palace
Two losses on the spin have seen the Saints plummet down the table and out of their top-four position and this is perhaps the worse time to face Pardew’s Palace who was fantastic at the weekend.
STAR MAN – Jason PUNCHEON
Three assists in one game for the Englishman puts him as the firm star man for this tie, as he faces his former club.
Manchester City v Leicester City
The champions have had a an absolutely dismal calendar year so far and the defence of their title is beginning to crumble away, so they will look to express themselves as they face the team rock bottom.
STAR MAN – Sergio AGUERO
The Argentine has been the main source of goals and assists for City and should be increasing his tally.
Newcastle v Manchester United
Newcastle United has started to gain a little bit of momentum since their change of manager and will fancy their chances here. United have struggled away from home in the league and the Toon have already beaten Chelsea and Liverpool at St James’ Park.
STAR MAN – Wayne ROONEY
Two goals for the Englishman last time out mean he is now the first player to score double figures in eleven consecutive seasons.
QPR v Arsenal
The first of two ties for Queens Park Rangers in this game-week and despite their Champions League embarrassment, I believe the star man of this game is still a Gunner and they North Londoners will come out on top.
STAR MAN – Mesut OZIL
Ozil has the third best minutes-to-assists ratio in league history and should continue this fantastic run at Loftus Road.
Tottenham v Swansea
In their last two games, Spurs have been knocked out of two different competitions and so they will have to find some inspiration from somewhere. Swansea meanwhile is very happy to reach the forty point milestone and may tone down a gear.
STAR MAN – Christian ERIKSEN
The Danish playmaker hit the woodwork in the League Cup final and his set pieces may be the spark for Tottenham.
Stoke City v Everton
The Potters continue cementing their solid top-ten status as the games go by and will be eyeing up their opponents. Suddenly for Everton, they may well be in a relegation dogfight and will have to dig in deep to get something from Britannia.
STAR MAN – Peter CROUCH
The frontman, who has the best goal ratio for England in history, has three in three for Stoke and utilises his great aerial prowess.
West Ham v Chelsea
It has not been a good couple of months for the Hammers who at one stage were tipped for a top-four challenge, but they have now not won a match in their last ten. Chelsea meanwhile have just come off the back of some silverware.
STAR MAN – John TERRY
The Blues’ veteran captain is as solid as you can get and has even been popping up with some vital goals recently.
Liverpool v Burnley
The Reds are staring to appear reminiscent of how they ended the season last year, and they are no the only team to have not lost a game in the league in 2015. With eight wins in their last ten games, it will be extremely difficult for Burnley.
STAR MAN – Philippe COUTINHO
The Brazilian superstar is the gift that just keeps on giving, and some of his unbelievable strikes will hopefully be on show again.
QPR v Tottenham
The other side to feature twice in this game-week, Tottenham, will look to push on with their top-four challenge as the only competition they remain in is now the league. Pochettino’s men will need to put a good run together.
STAR MAN – Harry KANE
Kane has a tendency to play well on the smaller pitches as he can find pockets of space, so he will look to score more here.
Dean.
