Euro 2016 Strikers – Fantasy Football Tips

Euro 2016 is fast approaching and if you are anything like us, you’ll be struggling to pick just 3 strikers out of those forwards who have some brilliant fantasy football potential. So, with all the talent up top, it can be said we are a bit spoilt for choice, but who do you bring into your team?

Here are some of our top strikers, who we think could prove the difference in your fantasy football teams this summer:

Robert Lewandowski – Poland

The main man for Poland notched up an impressive 13 goals and 6 assists during qualification. Lewandowski will want to replicate this form in France, and with an opening fixture against Northern Ireland, it is likely he will do so! The Bayern Munich forward also had an impressive season domestically, as he has found the back of the net 42 times in all competitions, which makes him another striker that you simply can’t overlook.

Cristiano Ronaldo – Portugal

Cristiano Ronaldo will be one of the most picked players in the tournament. Although the Portuguese squad itself is somewhat lacking, he certainly makes up the difference, however this does come at a hefty fantasy football price tag. The question for most managers, will be whether or not they can fit the star man in their team’s budget. With 56 goals in his 115 performances for his nation, he certainly will always be looking to find the back of the net, as he has shown he is capable of doing so with Real Madrid. Portugal’s main man will be on free-kicks and penalties, and with 16 goals in 11 games in this season’s Champions League, he is definitely not one to drop lightly.

Olivier Giroud – France

France have a brilliant group as hosts of the tournament, which will undoubtedly result in the French players featuring in many fantasy football teams. With an opening fixture against Romania, many fantasy managers are also looking to stick the captain’s armband on one of their Frenchmen. Olivier Giroud is one that many of us are familiar with due to his participation in the Premier League with Arsenal. Giroud has managed to find the back of the net with Les Bleus on 7 occasions in his last 7 outings with them. If Olivier Giroud doesn’t take your fancy, there is plenty of other talent in the French squad, with many opting for Griezmann up top instead.

Harry Kane – England

Last season’s Premier League top goal scorer with 25 goals will go into the Euro’s full of confidence. England go into the tournament with two of the most in form strikers in Harry Kane and Jamie Vardy, but with Kane’s spot in the squad nailed down, he might be the one that is worth the spot in your fantasy teams. During the qualifying campaign, he managed to score three and assist two, however he will want to improve on this in France. Kane also seems to be on free kicks, so could provide the odd assist at times too!

Budget Options

With all the big names this summer, there could be a spot in your teams for a budget or differential pick that could see you rocket up the ranks. There are certainly a lot of options up front this summer, with many strikers going under the radar. One of these is Marc Janko, who is currently Austria’s 6th all time goal scorer. The Austrian is one of their most attacking players and is finding the back of the net regularly, with 7 goals in qualifying. Another option may be Artem Dzyuba, who managed to find the back of the net for Russia on 8 occasions in qualifying. With a fixture against England, many of us will be hoping he doesn’t continue this good form in the tournament, but he could be a good gamble if you have space for him in your fantasy team. Finally, with Diego Costa out of the Spanish team, it could be time for Alvaro Morata to step up to the plate. Although he has struggled in front of goal at times this season, there is no doubting his ability.
