Euro 2016 Preview – Austria – Fantasy Football Tips

Austria sent a serious signal out to the rest of Europe in their qualification campaign, winning nine of their games and drawing just one of them, meaning they were unbeaten in the process of securing their place at Euro 2016. It is a squad with some familiar faces from Fantasy Premier League, as well as some unknown quantities.

Defence

Christian Fuchs is definitely a player worth looking at getting involved. The 30-year-old left-back was in sensational form in helping Leicester City win the title in astonishing fashion. Tottenham ran them close, so Kevin Wimmer may also be worth a shout as well in bolstering that backline. Sebastien Prodl also represents the Premier League contingent, as he helped Watford secure their top tier status.

Midfield

You may have noticed the absence of David Alaba in the defensive summary. Well, that is because the Bayern Munich man plays in midfield at international level. He has got a sweet shot on him, and his long list of honours are more than enough to suggest that Alaba can perform in France. Marko Arnautovic showed that he knows where the back of the net is too, as we have seen in a Stoke City shirt, hopefully he can do the same for Austria this summer.

Forwards

32-year-old Marc Janko has been a revelation up front for Austria, with seven goals in qualifying to help them secure their spot at Euro 2016. He might not have the pace to beat the young defenders at the tournament, but his eye for goal is exquisite. Janko may well be a dark horse in the competition, especially considering just how under the radar Austria went in qualifying.
