Euro 2016 Preview – Ukraine – Fantasy Football Tips

The 2012 co-hosts will be hoping they don’t depart the tournament at the group phase stage once again, just like they did four years ago, so Ukraine will want to do well in their new group which contains;Germany, Poland and Northern Ireland. Their fantasy football team is dominated by Shakhtar Donetsk players, who of course made it to the semi-finals of the Europa League so a couple of their players may be worth selecting for Euro 2016.

Defence

Andriy Pyatov will be Ukraine’s goalkeeper this summer, but the Eastern Europeans have only selected six out and out defenders so this would suggest they lack quality on this area of the field. The defence did however conceded just five goals in twelve qualification matches, having booked their place in France via the play-offs, making the likes of Yehven Khacheridi and Oleksandr Kucher ideal defensive candidates perhaps.

Midfield

Andriy Yarmolenko is the key man in midfield, with the winger finding the back of the net of six occasions in qualifying. The Dynamo Kiev man scored 16 goals for his club this season as well, and has been heavily linked with some of the biggest clubs in the continent. Yehven Konoplyanka has also had a decent campaign with Sevilla, enjoying their third successive Europa League triumph. Former Bayern Munich midfielder Anatoliy Tymoshchuk also makes the squad.

Forwards

Artem Kravets was a surprise omission, so Yevhen Seleznyov, who surpisingly plays for Shakhtar, will lead the line. However, Yarmolenko and Konoplyanka are the main goal threats in this team so if you are looking for an attacking Ukrainian, be sure to make it one of those two and if not both of them!
