Aidan Fitzpatrick – Fantasy Football Potential

Norwich City have made another signing this summer, bringing in Aidan Fitzpatrick from Partick Thistle. Norwich have clearly been on a mission to strengthen their under-23’s signing 5 other players so far this transfer window that will be joining the under-23’s.

Fitzpatrick has signed for the Canaries for a reported fee of £350,000, which matches Partick Thistle’s record sale, matching Liam Lindsay who moved to Barnsley two years ago. The right back is highly thought of, with the chief executive of Thistle saying that:

“To be honest, we want to keep Aidan at the club and had already turned down several bids from Norwich, the only club to approach us about him. However, he and his advisers believe that this latest offer is too good to turn down.”

Player History

The youngster joined Partick Thistle as a youngster and has come through the youth system at the club. He went on to make his senior debut in the Scottish League Cup against Albion Rovers in July 2018 where he scored in a 2-0 win.

2018/19 season was a breakthrough season for the club, as he made 30 appearances across all appearances, scoring 7 goals and providing 2 assists. Notably, 17 of these appearances were off the bench and he played a total of 1,305 minutes across the season, an attacking return every 145 minutes.

Internationally, Fitzpatrick has been capped for Scotland at under-17’s and under-18’s, but is yet ot make his senior debut.

Fantasy Football Potential

As previously mentioned, Fitzpatrick will be joining the under-23’s squad initially as they look to improve the quality of their development squad since promotion to the Premier League. Fitzpatrick will join Archie MariDaniel Adshead and Rob Nizet in the under-23’s, as they have all signed for Norwich this summer.

That said, Norwich City’s opening 5 fixtures are; Liverpool (A), Newcastle (H), Chelsea (H), West Ham (A) and Manchester City (H). Therefore, with this tough opening schedule, playing last years top 3 in the opening 5, Norwich City players are likely to have a low TSB% (teams selected by) at the start of the season.
