Tsun Dai – Fantasy Football Potential

Wolves have announced the signing of Tsun Dai from Oxford United for an undisclosed fee. The 19 year old midfielder will travel to Spain to join up with Rob Edwards’ under-23 side as they train or the upcoming Premier League 2 season.

Dai joins Wolves after stints at Bury and Oxford. Here’s what Rob Edwards has had to say about the youngster:

“He’s a midfield player who wants to try and get on the ball and he’s got lots of energy. He’s got a good personality and will get an opportunity, like all of our players in the under-23s, to show what he can do. We need to see more of him, as we do with all of our summer signings, because our levels are going to go up this season, especially if we want to close the gap to the first-team.”

Player History

Tsun Dai’s played football in Hong Kong for a variety of youth academy’s, but when he moved to England it was Reading that snapped the youngster up and whilst at Reading he was also called up to Hong Kong youth sides.

He went on to join Bury and ahead of the 2017/18 season he was given his first professional contract. He went on to make his debut against Sunderland in July 2017 and continued to excel through the season earning himself a 3 year deal with the club. Over the course of the season he made 11 appearances for Bury, scoring once and assisting another.

That said, Dai went on to sign for Oxford United in August 2018 on a 2 year deal for an undisclosed fee. Having not made an appearance, he went out on loan in January 2019 to FC Utrecht, were he went on to make 12 appearances for the club, assisting on two occasions.

Fantasy Football Potential

Dai will join Wolves’ under-23’s and it is highly unlikely that he feature in the Premier League. That said, with Wolves having secured a Europa League place last season, they will certainly need to make the most of their squad in order to limit fatigue, so there is a possibility this season that some of the under-23’s will be played in either cup fixtures or the league.
