Daniel Adshead – Fantasy Football Potential

Norwich City have signed youngster Daniel Adshead from Rochdale for a reported fee of around £300,000, being their second signing of the transfer window after Patrick Roberts joined from Manchester City on loan. The attacking midfielder is highly thought of as being one for the future and has been playing with Rochdale’s first team since the age of 14.

As part of Norwich’s promotion, they will be looking to improve their squad but also invest in the future, with Adshead likely to be one of these investments. Here’s what Adshead has had to say about his move to Norwich:

“I’m delighted to sign for Norwich. Extremely proud day for me and my family. I am really looking forward to the challenge ahead.”

Player History

Adshead started his career at Rochdale as he has risen through the youth academy since the age of 8. Since then he has been a hot prospect, attacting interest from top sides such as Manchester City, Manchester United, Chelsea, Barcelona and more. Having made appearances for Rochadale’s U-18’s since the age of 14, he made his first team debut in the EFL Trophy against Bury, becoming the teams youngest ever player to make an appearance, aged just 16 years, 17 days old.

During the 2017/18 campaign, Adshead managed to make 9 first team appearances, whilst during the 2018/19 season, he made 16 appearances, 10 being in the league. At the end of the 2018/19 season Adshead was named as League One’s LFE Apprentice of the Year, just showing the potential then Englishman has.

Fantasy Football Potential

Adshead is likely to join up with Norwich’s U-23’s team or they may choose to send the youngster out on loan. Unless there are any injuries to the Cannaries squad it is unlikely that the youngster will make an appearance in the senior team during the course of the 2019/20 Premier League season, but he certainly will be one for the future.

That said, Norwich City’s opening 5 fixtures are; Liverpool (A), Newcastle (H), Chelsea (H), West Ham (A) and Manchester City (H). Therefore, with this tough opening schedule, playing last years top 3 in the opening 5, Norwich City players are likely to have a low TSB% (teams selected by) at the start of the season.
