Tom Dele-Bashiru – Fantasy Football Potential

Watford have signed Tom Dele-Bashiru on a six year deal on a free as his contract with Manchester City has expired.

The central midfielder has represented both England and Nigeria at youth levels and joins the Hornets after summer signings of Craig Dawson and Bayli Spencer-Adams. Here’s what the 19 year old has had to say about his move to Watford:

“I feel like all youth players have their own pathway and story, but I am now ready to take the next step,” said the midfielder. I need to be playing games and making a name for myself.”

Player History

Dele-Bashiru came through the youth ranks at Manchester City and in December 2017 he made his professional debut for the club against Leicester City in the EFL Cup. The midfielder has been a regular in the Premier League 2, featuring on 12 occasions last season, however the Leicester fixture ended up his only senior team appearance for the club.

Internationally, Dele-Bashiru had featured for the England under-16’s and due to his eligibility he has also played for the Nigerian under-20’s on 3 occasions, all being in the under 20’s world cup in Poland where he managed to score one goal.

Fantasy Football Potential

Dele-Bashiru will want to follow the likes of Jadon Sancho who did not sign a new deal with Manchester City and subsequently went elsewhere. The 19 year old will join up with the first team this season; however it is unsure how much he will feature in the coming season. It is likely that he will be featuring from the bench, however signed on a 6 year deal, he is clearly one for the future.

Watford do have an opening five of; Brighton (H), Everton (A), West Ham (H), Newcastle (A) and Arsenal (H). This may be a bit of a mixed bag with a favourable opening fixture, but they do also play Manchester City (A) in gameweek 6 and it is not until gameweek 12 that they have successive runs of favourable fixtures.
