Gameweek 16 Captaincy Analysis – Fantasy Football Tips

The games are coming thick and fast, with a midweek set of fixtures having just passed we are looking straight into gameweek 16. The deadline is fast approaching, but before we look at this weeks captaincy picks, here’s a breakdown of how last weeks picks did:

1. Jamie Vardy – 5 points
2. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang – 2 points
3. Son Heung-Min – 2 points
Differential – Jack Grealish – 2 point
Gamble – Saido Mane – 15 points

Fingers crossed for better returns this week, here’s our top picks for the up coming gameweek:

1. Jamie Vardy (AVL)

More or less rinse and repeat from the last couple of weeks from Vardy! What can I say that hasn’t already been said about him, he is absolutely deadly in the box, and makes it 7 goals in a row now, he’s only 4 away from breaking his own record! He’s the most owned player in FPL at the moment, and it’s a much safer option to captain him, because he’ll certainly be the most popular player for captaincy this week, and if he hauls against Aston Villa, you’ll need those points justo maintain your rank!

2. Saido Mane (BOU)

If, for whatever reason, you still don’t own Vardy, you have to look at Mane as the next best option. He was unreal against Everton last week, and his pass for Origi’s first goal hasn’t been spoken about enough in my opinion, it was absolutely sublime! Liverpool still haven’t played a game where they failed to score, and considering how good Mane has been all year, he’s definitely one to consider! He’d usually be number two, however I have a slight feeling he may not get the full 90 minutes this week after Klopp said that his players need some rest, so just something to consider!

3. Son Heung-Min (BUR)

Despite blanking last week against Man United, I’m still confident that Son will have a good week against Burnley on Saturday. It was the first time he’s blanked since GW10, and also the first time he failed to provide a goal return under Mourinho in any competition. Amazingly, he’s still only owned by 15%, and while many look at Alli for a differential, I don’t think you can go wrong with Son, as we all know how good he is.

Differential – Gabriel Jesus (MUN)

One rule I have with myself is that I never own Man City strikers, because whenever I own Jesus, Aguero starts, and vice versa. However, with Aguero out for the Manchester Derby, and with Jesus bang in form after a brace vs Burnley, I think he might have a really good game against their rivals. He’s only owned by 3% of FPL managers, and if he plays as well as he did last week, he could prove to be a brilliant differential!

Gamble – Tammy Abraham (EVE)

Not something I expected to write after the season he (and Everton!) have had, but there’s a few reasons why Abraham is the gamble this week. Firstly, I don’t expect him to last the full 90 minutes, I think he’ll start but I’d be very surprised if Lampard doesn’t take him off at some point. He is still currently nursing an injury he suffered a couple of weeks ago, and despite scoring and assisting in the midweek game, I actually think Chelsea may struggle against Everton too. They’ll be up for it, and with no manager, it’s hard to predict what will happen. If you own the others I’d advise captaining them over Abraham but if you fancy the risk, go for it!
