Gameweek 4 Captaincy Analysis – Fantasy Football Tips

Last week our top captaincy selections scored an average of 8 points, continuing the good form since that start of the season! Here’s how last weeks picks did:

1. Harry Kane – 2 points
2. Raheem Sterling – 8 points
3. Teemu Pukki – 11 points
Differential – Bernard – 2 points
Gamble – Mohamed Salah – 15 points

Fingers cossed for more the same this week, here’s our top picks for gameweek 3:

1.  Raheem Sterling (BHA)

Manchester City have had a reasonable start to the Premier League, having dropped just two points, but Raheem Sterling has arguably had a more impressive start to the season, currently being the joint top goal scorer with Teemu Pukki. With 4 goals in 3 games, Sterling will look to improve upon this record as City host Brighton this week who have never won a league game at Manchester City. Owned by 47.1% of fantasy managers, Sterling will no doubt be the most selected captain this week, for good reason too.

2. Mohamed Salah (BUR)

Last week Salah punished the 398,638 FPL managers who took him out of their teams with a brace against Arsenal. This week Liverpool play Burnley away ad they will be keen to maintain their unbeaten start to the season, with them being the only team in the Premier League to still hold this record. So far this season only Sterling (6) has had more “big chances” than Salah, with 5 falling to the Egyptian international. With 3 goals in the first 3 gameweeks, coupled with 1 assist, Salah will be keen to keep up with the likes of Sterling, Pukki, Barnes and Aguero who have all scored 4 of more.

3. Teemu Pukki (WHU)

Joint with Sterling, Pukki is currently the top scorer in the Premier League with 4 goals, but what makes this more impressive is that in the first 3 gameweeks, Norwich have played against Liverpool and Chelsea! This week Pukki and Norwich have arguably an easier fixture against West Ham away from home, but I am sure this won’t phase the Finnish international. West Ham’s defence hasn’t been the best this campaign, conceding 7 so far this season, which does bring promise to those who are looking to captain the Norwich forward.

Differential – Mason Mount (SHU)

Chelsea have had an indifferent start to the Premier League season with one win, one draw and one loss, however they now enter into a run of favourable fixtures playing 1 top side in the next 9 games. This week they play Sheffield United at home, with many fantasy managers looking at Mount to perform. Mount has scored 2 goals in the last two fixtures, whilst last gameweek he manages 5 shots on goal, with no over player having more in the entire gameweek. Sheffield do have good defensive statistics, however we favour Mason Mount and Chelsea to come out victorious this gameweek.

Gamble – Harry Kane (ARS)

Captaining Kane this week could be a bit of gamble considering his form and the fact that Spurs don’t have the easiest of fixtures this week against Arsenal. That said, Kane loves a North London Derby and has only blanked once in 9 fixtures against Arsenal. In those 9 games he has scored 9 times and assisted twice, this makes for good reading if you are considering captaining the forward.

That was our analysis of some of the key captaincy options, I hope you enjoyed it. Best of luck this week folks!
