This article will look at 5 players selected by user 5% of managers that could be strong differentials for gameweek 18 for a one week punt or beyond to push managers up the overall rankings.
Matt Doherty (£6.0m) – Wolves – 4.3% TSB
In gameweek 18 Wolves have a strong fixture against Norwich who could be without Pukki due to a toe injury. As well as strong defensive opportunity Doherty has looked back to his old best in an attacking sense as he bombs down the right side. Doherty has 4 attacking returns so far this season so 1 every 4 gameweeks. Wolves also play Watford Newcastle and Southampton in the next 6 gameweeks and so Doherty could be a strong differential for this long period of games.
Jetro Willems (£4.7m) – Newcastle – 3.6% TSB
In gameweek 18 Newcastle host a palace side who average less than a goal per game this season. This said there is a high chance that this ends as a clean sheet for Newcastle. As well as this, Newcastle’s attack are struggling in front of goal so it falls to some of their defence including Willems to get forward. Willems has 5 attacking returns in 13 starts including those against Man City and Liverpool.
Anwar El Ghazi (£5.5m) – Aston Villa – 1.2% TSB
In gameweek 18 Aston Villa host a Southampton team which isn’t far off a must win game for Villa. As well as this, Villa then play Norwich Watford and Burnley on the bounce which could be a season defining period in their season. This said they will need their attackers to be on the best form possible. He has returned 7 attacking returns in the last 14 gameweek’s and so there is definitely potential for him to return over this period.
Matt Targett (£4.4m) Aston Villa – 1.3% TSB
Villa’s next 2 gameweek’s are at home where Villa have been very strong defensively and Targett enjoys getting forward and so it would not be surprising to see attacking returns.
Neil Maupay (£5.8m) – Brighton – 1.4% TSB
In gameweek 18 Brighton host a Sheffield United side who have looked better defensively but have kept just 1 CS in their last 6 gameweeks. Maupay has also gone under the radar as he has 3 goals in his last 3 with goals against Arsenal Wolves and Crystal Palace. Brighton also face Bournemouth and Chelsea in the next 4 gameweeks who have been far from strong defensively.
Chris Wood (£6.2m) – Burnley – 1.1% TSB
This week Burnley travel to a Bournemouth side who have been struggling a lot recently excluding their gameweek 17 win away at Chelsea. Wood looks like Burnley’s no.1 goal threat and this is a huge match for Burnley as this seems to be a big 6 pointer and their fixtures after are tough. 7 goals in the last 12 matches with goals against Norwich Villa Newcastle and Watford showing he has an eye for goal in important games, as this one is.
