FPL Updates XI – Gameweek 34

Gameweek 33 was a bit hit and miss for the FPL Updates XI, but with the wildcard this week we have high hopes for gameweek 34! Nevertheless a solid score of 60 points saw us rise in the ranks and here is how we looked at the end of the week:

So to start things off, Myhill managed to keep us a clean sheet and bring home a massive 8 points! Well done Boaz! The defence in front of him didn’t even manage to get 8 points between them, 7 to be precise between the 3 of them. Ivanovic managed to bring home a second clean sheet in two games, whilst de Laet once again only played 45. Yoshida who surprisingly started unfortunately could only bring home a solitary point as the Saints were beaten 2-1.

In the middle of the park, Hazard once again pulled it out of the bag with another 11 points! Meanwhile, Eriksen bagged us a goal (9 points), Lennon unfortunately saw his potential assist wiped away as Barkley’s penalty was saved (3 points) and Silva went off injured (2 points).

Finally up top, we had brought Murray in, which obviously killed his goal streak and he just scored us 2 points. Meanwhile, captain Aguero bagged a goal, and double points as our captain. Kane on the other hand had managed to find his goal scoring boots at last.

So, as hinted, we have played our wildcard in the hope to maximise our returns this double gameweek and also to give the team a general reshuffle! Here is how it looks:

So in goal we have brought in and start Schmeichel, who does have a double gameweek this week, and does rotate well with Myhill. We have had a re-shuffle in defence as we did have some players such as de Laet and Yoshida who were not nailed on starters. We now start a back 3 of; McShane, Cahill and Duff, with van Aanholt and Hutton taking a seat on the bench. All 5 are normal starters, with the only player somewhat doubtful at the moment being Hutton as he is injured.

In the middle of the park we swapped out our cheap midfielder, Walters, for a cheaper Cambiasso who is in reasonably good form and has a double gameweek this week. We have gone with two Liverpool midfielders in the form of Sterling and Henderson, which will probably see Sterling play further forward with no Sturridge and Henderson on penalties. We then also start and captain Mr Reliable, aka Eden Hazard as he faces up against Leicester City and Arsenal this gameweek. Meanwhile Sanchez finds himself on the bench.

Finally up top we have kept hold of Kane and Aguero. Our third striker is Vardy who plays twice this week. We have kept enough cash in the bank though to upgrade him next week to Arsenal’s Olivier Giroud.
