Gameweek 37 Review

Gameweek 37 saw lots of teams pile up on the Arsenal players as they had a double gameweek. Instead, teams should have been filled with Sunderland defenders as they picked up two clean sheets against Leicester City and Arsenal. Here is how the dream team looked at the end of the week:

gameweek 37 dream team

Goalkeeper

With a double gameweek, Costel Pantilimon made the most of this with a double clean sheet! Sunderland players weren’t too popular this week as they have been leaking goals, but anyone who gambled with some Sunderland defenders this week were truly rewarded, and if you stuck Pantilimon between the sticks a massive 14 points came your way!

Defenders

As we said, Sunderland picked up 2 clean sheets, so it is no surprise that we see another black cats player in the form of Patrick van Aanholt. 15 points for gameweek 37, as he picked up three bonus points against Leicester City. Van Aanholt has looked promising at times during the season, especially when going forward. Unfortunately there were no attacking points for PvA this week, but two crucial clean sheets meant that Sunderland will be back next year.

Sunderland’s next defender in the dream team this week is Billy Jones. WIth a current ownership of just 0.1% he was a real differential this week, although he did nearly put the ball in the back of his own net, but the post came to his rescue as he avoided scoring an own goal. 14 points for the week is definitely a good return for a defender, and it earns him a place in this week’s dream team.

Danny Rose failed in dying his hair purple, as it turned out red, however he didn’t fail in finding the back of the net this week. Spurs haven’t been showing their form of late as both Eriksen and Kane are drawing blanks. However, with a crucial game for Hull City, Spurs found some good form, with a 2-0 win. Rose managed to pick up a goal, a clean sheet and some bonus points, giving the defender 14 points and a place in this week’s dream team.

Big John O’shea is our next Sunderland player in the dream team. This week John managed to score 12 points as once again he secured two clean sheets (can you see a pattern here?).

To complete the Sunderland back four we have Sebastian Coates, who also picked up a total of 13 points this week. With fixtures against Leicester and Arsenal, the Sunderland players were not favourites to get into this week’s dream team. However, when teams are fighting a relegation battle, anything can happen, as seen this week with the back 5 of Sunderland.

Midfielders

This week we saw a record broken and what a record it was! Robbie Fowler’s record of scoring a hat-trick in 4 minutes and 33 seconds was beaten by Saido Mane who grabbed three goals against Aston Villa in 2 minutes and 56 seconds! He wasn’t done there as he went and grabbed an assist, giving him a massive 23 points!

With Manchester City’s Yaya Toure looking for a move away from the Etihad, he certainly didn’t harm his cause this weekend, as the powerhouse managed to score a tall 15 points in this week’s fantasy Premier League. Yaya managed to find the back of the net twice this week against a Swansea side that certainly put up a fight. Yaya completed 20 out of his 25 attacking third passes, and completed all three of his take on’s during the game.

QPR finally found a win, however unfortunately for them it is a little too late! Matty Phillips has been one of those who has impressed this season and this time around, it was no different as this week he set up a goal and scored another, giving the R’s midfielder a nice 13 point haul for gameweek 37. Unless Phillips moves over the summer he won’t be featuring in any Premier League fantasy teams next season.

Strikers

Our second player from Southampton this week is Shane Long. Usually a score of 18 points in one gameweek would put you close to being the highest scoring fantasy Premier League player of the week, but it was his teammate who took this accolade with a massive 23 points. However Long’s tally of 18 points is still very impressive, as he managed to get 2 assists and 2 goals, as they demolished Aston Villa in the Saturday lunch time kick off.

West Brom’s Saido Berahino started this season really well, and was finding the back of the net on a regular basis. Since then he has gone off the boil a little, but this week he really put on a show for the Baggies final home game, with two goals against the Champions, Chelsea. This, along with the three crucial bonus points earned the striker a tidy 13 points.
