Captaincy Analysis – Gameweek 14 FPL Tips – Fantasy Premier League Tips

Welcome to our Fantasy Premier League captaincy analysis for the upcoming gameweek 14. Here we will showcase the FPL options and tips for the captains armband. Firstly though, it’s time to look back at last week’s picks:

1. Jamie Vardy – 7 points

2. Graziano Pelle – 1 point

3. Harry Kane – 13 points

Differential – Diego Costa – 6 points

Gamble – Sergio Aguero – 6 points

So, solid in the most part, now it’s time to analyse some of the main options for your armband this weekend!

1. Romelu Lukaku (BOU)

We begin with a striker in a rich vein of form, as the Belgian added two more goals at Goodison on Saturday which takes his tally for the season up to 9. His team are playing well at the moment, but crucially for FPL mangers they are scoring goals at will, with 11 in 3 games. The Toffees face a long trip to the South coast to take on a Bournemouth side who currently sit 19th in the league. In Lukaku you have a forward with an eye for goal, moreover the service he’s receiving is top class with Deulofeu, Kone & Barkley all providing the ammunition. Clearly he’s going to be a popular captaincy choice this week and with good reason to.

2. Mesut Ozil (NOR)

Arsenal will travel to Carrow road on Sunday on the back of a convincing Champions League tie midweek and the Gunners will be looking to carry that level of performance back into the Premier League and move on from their disappointing showing at West Brom last gameweek. The German has been in impressive form of late; laying on assists regularly with 11 up to now and if you consider the poor form that Norwich are in, you would expect Arsenal to get the win. As Ozil is a vital cog in Arsenal’s team it’s to be expected that he will return a significant number of points which will lead many managers to giving him the armband.

3. Sergio Aguero (SOU)

The Argentine made a goal scoring return in gameweek 14 and despite a poor performance from his team, Aguero was a bright spark in the 66 minutes which he managed. Any seasoned manager will be acutely aware that Aguero can be gold at times so managers are flocking to bring him into their squads. Manchester City host a Southampton side who’s form has been indifferent of late, which is giving managers a feeling that Man City will return to winning ways and mangers are gambling on Aguero being a key part of any City resurgence at the Etihad on Saturday. A slight risk however the rewards are definitely there.

Differential – Roberto Firmino (SWA)

The Brazilian midfielder really announced himself in the Premier League with a dominating performance at the Etihad and it’s really made FPL mangers consider him as an option. Firmino is playing in a Liverpool side which has enjoyed a real resurgence since Jurgen Klopp took over at the helm. This week Liverpool face a Swansea side who are without a win since August which is leading managers to believe that Liverpool will run out comfortable winners at Anfield on Sunday and feel that Firmino will play a pivotal role in this. A great differential because at the time of writing, he’s owned by just 1.4% of mangers, so if he performs well you can expect to see a sizeable rise in the rankings.

Gamble – Jamie Vardy (MUN)

Now I know what you’re thinking ‘how on earth is Vardy a gamble captaincy pick?’ and it is because of his fixture. Leicester host Manchester United this week, which will be a tough game, but if you factor in United’s brilliant defensive record; conceding one goal in over 10 hours of football, it somehow makes this seem a tougher challenge than usual. However some managers will note that with the form Vardy is in you can still expect him to grab a goal, so will give him the armband once again. With a brutal run of fixtures some are doubting whether Vardy can keep scoring however with that kind of form you simply can’t exclude him from your captaincy thoughts.
