Gameweek 7 Preview – Fantasy Premier League Tips

Last week we saw the unbeatable’s be beaten and a shocker in the London derby. The week of Capital One Cup games commences, and we have some cracking Premier League games on the weekend to follow. Here is our gameweek 7 fantasy premier league preview and star men picks:

TOTMCI

Tottenham vs Manchester City

City’s first conceded goal and first loss in the BPL came last Saturday in a 2-1 defeat to West Ham. Furthermore, the pre-match injury of Silva and centre back Vincent Kompany leaving the field during MCFC’s Champions League match meant that the Sky Blue’s were missing two key players. Tottenham, however, did pick up a win in the form of new signing – Son, scoring the winner in a narrow 1-0 victory. Pellegrini’s men should come out flying from the first whistle. Although Spurs have managed fairly at the back, the league leaders have so much quality that they will overhaul the North London club.

STAR MAN – Kevin De Bruyne

The Belgian nabbed a goal on his full City debut and even though his team were on the losing end, the attacking midfielder shone in his attacking attemps. I expect him to be one of the main men in their bid for the title.

Prediction: Tottenham 0-2 Manchester City

LEIARS

Leicester City vs Arsenal

The high flying Leicester have been scoring for fun as of late, but in both of their last two games they have conceded 2 or more goals and had to come back from the deficit. This is therefore where Arsenal should look to take advantage by getting an early lead and managing to take points here. It’s a tough game to call.

STAR MAN – Riyad Mahrez

There’s really no one to compete with this guy for star man. Assists, goals – he has it all. The playmaker hasn’t had a problem in any game so far and has created good partnerships with several of his team mates.

Prediction: Arsenal 1-1 Leicester City

LIVAVL

Liverpool vs Aston Villa

1 goal in 4 weeks, and only 2 points in the same length of time. The Red’s couldn’t hold a lead last week and that leaves them in 13th place. Villa have improved their defence slightly, yet now lack their goalscoring that we saw the week before the last. For Rodgers, he once again faces proving himself to the fans and only a comfortable win here will be approved by the Kop. I think Villa need time before going up the gears, but should be careful to avoid falling into the relegation places.

STAR MAN – Christian Benteke

The big man faces his former club and so far, only a wonder goal to show for his large price tag. A goal against his old club will be good for his confidence but at the moment he is not receiving the service he needs.

Prediction: Liverpool 1-0 Aston Villa

MUNSUN

Manchester United vs Sunderland

The Red Devils are gaining momentum and finally have the attacking force that they have needed. They face Sunderland at home, and there’s not a chance that they will take anything from United. The unfortunate long term injury of Luke Shaw, who started the season so well, has left a gap in the MUFC defence yet they will withstand any of Sunderland’s attempts. Dick Advocaat has a few decent players such as Lens, however there seems to be no sign of collaboration and the clock is ticking for him and his team.

STAR MAN – Anthony Martial

I picked him last week as the star man and it showed why through his two goals on Sunday. Once again, the youngster will make an impact here. He adds something that United have lacked for ages, although many are still unsure about that price tag.

Prediction : Manchester United 4-0 Sunderland

SOUSWA

Southampton vs Swansea

Recently, the Swans have had a dip in form, not being able to score in consecutive games. Yet, this shouldn’t be too much of a worry for fans of the club. Southampton managed 2 goals last week in their loss to Man United but there were also positives from this game. Signs of fighting and determination were promising and Koeman will be hoping to further mirror the spirit of his team last season.

STAR MAN – Graziano Pelle

The Italian scored a double at St Mary’s and although we know that he can be an on and off player, scoring two against United is no simple feat. Therefore, I have selected Pelle as the main man in this game.

Prediction: Southampton 2-2 Swansea

STKBOU

Stoke City vs Bournemouth

It’s going well for Eddie Howe’s team in their first PL run. An easy 2-0 victory vs Sunderland brings them into this match with a good chance of taking one or even three points at The Brittania. The home team have been the most surprising of the season so far, yet to win a game and their Champions League winners not giving them an advantage as of yet. They did look greatly improved last week, however let it slip to Leicester.

STAR MAN – Bojan

The attacker has returned from injury and looks to add a new lease of life to The Potters. Bournemouth’s defence isn’t fantastic so he should be able to penetrate it and create several chances in this game.

Prediction: Stoke City 2-2 Bournemouth

WHUNOR

West Ham vs Norwich

What a week it’s been for the Hammers. First a domination of Newcastle and then not only scoring against but taking all 3 points away from Manchester City. They finally got their win at home and Bilic’s mastermind plans will help them in a successful season. Norwich shouldn’t be put down easily though. They showed good determination and managed to draw level against Liverpool and I believe this will be their best ever Premier League season.

STAR MAN – Wes Hoolahan and Dimitri Payet

I really thought about this one and tried to select someone else but once again its the Frenchman who takes the star man pick. Wes Hoolahan is also becoming popular on my radar. He is a great package at such a low price in your FPL team.

Prediction: West Ham 2-1 Norwich

NEWCHE

Newcastle vs Chelsea

In controversial fashion Chelsea beat their rivals, but the question is – can they carry on? Their opponents are 19th, only avoiding bottom on GD. This should be an easy win but Chelsea’s big names have had to contribute in order for the team to perform in other games. For Newcastle, their season just gets worse and worse, they won’t get points here but keeping the score line respectable will be their target.

STAR MAN – Kurt Zouma

The big names have not shown up this season, therefore the award goes to the defender who was able to nab a goal last week and is currently keeping Terry out of the team. He has also kept a shaky defence in line for the last few matches and looks a good prospect. He will more than certainly keep a clean sheet this week.

Prediction: Newcastle 0-2 Chelsea

WATCRY

Watford vs Crystal Palace

It seems that Watford have got the hang of Premier League life again but their opponents this week will be hungry to get back to winning ways. Pardew and co. suffered a loss last week, whereas Watford scored 3 points in a 2-1 win. I can see goals going either way in this match as both have had some good attacking moments this season.

STAR MAN – Odion Ighalo

The striker is an FPL bargain. He’s done well in the BPL and has a good scoring record so far. He will play a part in this game and hopefully get his striker partner Deeney in on the action.

Prediction: Watford 1-1 Crystal Palace

WBAEVE

West Brom vs Everton

I have a feeling this will be a close match and West Brom will give it their all. Everton have had a surge of footballing greatness come out of nowhere so they will be the team to beat, however unusually they didn’t score last week in their draw with Swansea. The Baggies also have the ability to do well. They got a win against their Midlands rivals and Berahino was at the centre of attention once again, in a good way this time. It’s surprising that West Brom haven’t scored that many in the last 3 games with the strikers at their disposal.

STAR MAN – Tim Howard

I spoke about how good West Brom’s strikers were however every front man will have trouble up against the big Yank in goal.

Prediction: West Brom 0-1 Everton
