Captaincy Analysis – Gameweek 14 FPL Tips – Fantasy Premier League Tips

Hello and welcome to this captaincy analysis for the upcoming gameweek 14. I know last week was disappointing for many (including me) so hopefully this weekend proves more fruitful.

Let’s take a look at how our picks from last week did.

1. Sergio Aguero – 12 points
2. Alexis Sanchez – 14 points
3. Philippe Coutinho – 1 point
Differential – Matty Phillips – 5 points
Gamble – Diego Costa – 5 points

Without any further ado here is our first pick:

1. Alexis Sanchez (WHU)

If there was a safe pick this week then the Chilean would have to be it, coming off the back of a brace at the weekend which continued his fine recent form. I know hundreds of thousands of managers will be backing him to do the business against struggling West Ham in gameweek 14. Picking him will be nothing like a differential but with form and fixture on side, you can’t look past Sanchez for a decent points haul.

2. Charlie Austin (CRY)

Another player with the 2 key ingredients to thrive this week is Charlie Austin. Instrumental to Southampton under Claude Puel, he has displaced Shane Long on the line up and with 6 goals at an average of 1 every 133 minutes, the Englishman has added a level of consistency to his game. The Saints travel to face Crystal Palace this week and Pardew’s men have been poor lately, especially in defence, and this is something Austin may well capitalise on. Austin is a lot cheaper and will be quite the differential so bear him in mind if you’re looking for something slightly different.

3. Sadio Mane (BOU)

The Senegalese international has had a fantastic start at Liverpool and with the injury to Coutinho, there is an opportunity for Mané to take an increased responsibility in the attack. Bournemouth have started well but given the record of the Liverpool front line, you’d imagine there will be goals for Klopp’s men on the south coast. Perhaps the natural replacement for Coutinho if you had previously selected him and even if not, some Liverpool coverage may prove to be a wise choice.

Differential – Robert Snodgrass (MID)

I’m sure the midfielder was not the first name you would’ve expected in this spot but his recent form is quite handy and his Hull side will believe they can get a result on Monday night. With ownership not far above 0, he is one of the strongest differentials out there. Obviously it’s a huge risk but Hull will be buoyed by beating another North East team in Newcastle so will be confident of beating another.

Gamble – Sergio Aguero (CHE)

Aguero is a player more used to occupying our number 1 spot, however this week he must be considered a gamble due to the difficulty of the task City will face on Saturday. They have home advantage but it could count for little if Chelsea continue their current fine form. If you have faith in Aguero to turn up and deliver when it matters then he’s definitely worth the armband but as the name suggests, it is a gamble.

That concludes our analysis. Thanks for reading and good luck!
