Fantasy Football Potential – Cenk Tosun

Everton have signed Turkish striker Cenk Tosun from Besiktas for a fee believed to be around £27 million. The striker joins the Toffees as a belated replacement for Romelu Lukaku who joined Manchester United in the summer.

Since the Belgian’s departure, Everton have struggled to find the back of the net which lead to the sacking of Ronal Koeman. Tosun could be answer to their problems. He has 41 goals in 96 Turkish Super League matches and has been capped 25 times for his country.

“It is a great honour to be at the Club,” said the 26-year-old. “Everton were one of the teams that I always watched and I am grateful to be here. They were the first team that seriously wanted me and I was serious about wanting to come here.”

Fantasy Premier League Potential

Tosun has been priced at 7.5m which has divided opinion amongst the FPL community. Some are believing that the Turk could be a bargain at that price if he can replicate Lukaku’s scoring record, but others are less hopeful and think that Tosun has been priced to highly.

He has already featured twice for Everton in the Premier League, failing to make an impact in either of them. He started both matches but was pulled off just after the hour on both occasions. Incredibly, Tosun has racked up just 3 points on the bonus point system, which from 129 minutes of football is woeful.

Everton’s next five fixtures are as follows: Leicester (H), Arsenal (A), Crystal Palace (H), Watford (A) and Burnley (A). After their difficult match at the Emirates, Everton’s run of games turn very favourable which may lead to Tosun finally becoming a decent FPL option.
