FPL Captaincy Analysis – Gameweek 20 Tips – Fantasy Premier League Tips

The festive football is in full flow and we now have the Boxing Day football to look forward too! Before we look at gameweek 20’s captaincy selections, here’s how last week’s FPL Captaincy Analysis did:

1. Harry Kane – 17 points
2. Kevin De Bruyne – 3 points
3. Mohamed Salah – 10 points
Differential – Wilfried Zaha – 1 point
Gamble – Wayne Rooney – 0 points (illness)

Now onto this week’s picks:

1. Harry Kane (SOU)

After being ditched by thousands of FPL managers due to his inconsistency, Kane instantly replied with a hat-trick against Burnley – a tough side to beat, especially at Turf Moor. The goals scored took his tally to a whopping 15 goals, which is a fantastic record to have, as it nearly averages a goal per game in the league. It’s a mystery why so many were keen to get rid of him! This week, Spurs take on Southampton at home, a team who have defensively struggled all season, and have only kept 1 clean sheet since GW6! When Kane is on form, any defender in the league will struggle to stop him!

2. Eden Hazard (BHA)

I like Hazard, but only when Morata is playing, which sounds idiotic but when Morata plays, it allows Hazard to play in his actual position, meaning that he can play better rather than in the ‘false nine’ position. He struggled to make an impact at Everton but this week, Chelsea take on Brighton. Chelsea are at home, and seem to play better at Stamford Bridge, so can Hazard reward those who have held on to him after these recent poor performances?

3. Raheem Sterling (NEW)

Sterling has been in fantastic form this season, scoring a whopping 12 goals and assisting 7 times, the most from any player in FPL this season. He’s played the full 90 minutes in the past 7 games, and that could mean he is exempt from rotation, as Pep knows how instrumental he is to Man City’s success. This week, Man City take on a Newcastle side who have only kept 4 clean sheets all season, but it really doesn’t matter who City play, because they’re probably going to win regardless!

Differential – Phillipe Coutinho (SWA)

With 2 goals and 1 assist in his last two games, he’s probably not got a lot of credit due to his teammate (Salah). However, he was involved heavily in all 3 goals for Liverpool last week and this week, Liverpool face the team sitting at the bottom of the table, Swansea. Despite Liverpool’s defence being woeful, you can’t deny that their attack is frighteningly good. They’ve scored one of the highest amounts in the league and if Coutinho continues his good form, it could mean that Swansea could get smashed!

Gamble – Romelu Lukaku (BUR)

Looking at the stats, you could argue that Lukaku hasn’t done as well as everyone would have hoped. However, he was really unlucky not to have scored/assisted in their game at Leicester, and if it wasn’t for his teammates not being clinical/creative, he could have got double digits last week. He seems to perform significantly better when Pogba is playing and this week, United take on a Burnley side without Tarkowski again, and Lukaku will be determined to try and catch up with Kane and Salah, who are now 5 goals ahead of him.

Merry Christmas Everyone.
