Gameweek 15 FPL Review – Fantasy Premier League Tips

To think that we’re already looking at gameweek 16 of the 17/18 season?! Before we do though, it’s important to understand where the points were won and lost in gameweek 15. We saw Chelsea overcome an early scare in the early kick off against Newcastle, Everton make it 2 wins and 2 clean sheets in a row against Huddersfield, Spurs drop points yet again against Watford, United come out all guns blazing at the Emirates and City experience a scare for the third gameweek in a row but still come out with the win.

Gameweek 15 FPL Review

Goalkeeper

Julian Speroni – The veteran that is Speroni was given a run out by Roy this week against a West Brom side that had just been taken over by Alan Pardew. Speroni made sure Hodgson didn’t regret his decision by helping his side keep a clean sheet with 7 saves and bagging all 3 bonus points.

Defenders

Funnily enough, none of our dream team defenders this week picked up a clean sheet. It was their pivotal roles at the other end of the pitch which bagged them the points this week.

Christian Kabasele – The Hornets defender opened the scoring in the game against Spurs, a fixture which left Tottenham frustrated come the final whistle. Kabasele was hauled off just after 60 minutes and picked up a yellow card, but that didn’t stop him picking up a bonus point and making it into the dream team this week.

Victor Moses – A crucial player in Chelsea’s dominance of Newcastle in the early kick off on Saturday, Moses caused all sorts of trouble including a driven cross which allowed Morata to head home from close range, and a darting run into the box which led to a foul from Ritchie and Hazard putting away the resulting penalty. To top it all, a bonus point too.

Nicolas Otamendi – No clean sheet for the City defender in 5 games now but he did grab a big goal in what looked to be an easy win on paper ahead of the game against West Ham. Otamendi’s goal was vital in getting the Citizens back level and on their way to a win. He took maximum bonus points as a result and completes the dream team back line this week.

Midfielders

Gylfi Sigurdsson – Everton have managed 2 wins in as many games for the first time in the league this season. Sigurdsson added to his recent goal tally of 2 goals and 2 assists in Everton’s last 4 when they faced Huddersfield on Saturday. He also picked up a clean sheet point (of course, again for the first time 2 weeks in a row this season) as well as a bonus to place him on 9 points for the week.

Ryan Fraser – The south coast derby was the early kick off on Sunday between Bournemouth and Southampton, and the sides saw out a 1-1 draw in which Fraser was the man to step up for the Cherries. All 3 bonus for his efforts too led to a double figure FPL haul of 10 points.

Eden Hazard – Now onto the big hitters. The little Belgian only played 77 minutes but the damage was done for Newcastle in that time. He levelled for the Blues shortly after Newcastle had taken the lead, followed by a second half penalty which he chipped in with ease. That’s now 4 of his 5 goals and 2 of his 3 assists for the season in his last 4 matches, and he only played the best part of 10 minutes in gameweek 14! That performance meant maximum bonus and an overall total of 15!

Jesse Lingard – What a couple of fixtures this man has had. A scintillating goal against Watford midweek followed by a classy 2 goal performance against Arsenal, at the Emirates, in the late kick off on Saturday. Maximum bonus for the lad meant he too managed a total of 15 points.

Philippe Coutinho – Brighton had only conceded a maximum of 2 per game up until gameweek 15 but that record was dashed on Saturday by another dominant Liverpool performance. This Brazilian was crucial as he managed 3 assists and a very clever free-kick, giving him 2 bonus points and a massive total of 18. Move aside Mo Salah!

Forwards

Dominic Calvert-Lewin – In addition to setting up his Icelandic team mate for his goal, Calvert-Lewin also stepped up and bagged a goal of his own in the 2-0 win over Huddersfield. With Big Sam in the hot seat, is this a turn in the road for Everton’s fortunes? A solid 12 points for the Everton forward.

Roberto Firmino – If Coutinho didn’t manage maximum bonus, someone else had to be performing too. In this case, it was this man, as he bagged 2 goals in a 5-1 win over Brighton. A total of 13 points will do nicely for the Brazilian and the FPL managers that own him.
