Gameweek 28 FPL Review – Fantasy Premier League Tips

Gameweek 28 seemed to go on forever, as it wasn’t finalised until Arsenal “played” against Manchester City for the second time in a week on the Thursday evening, 4 days after the gameweek 28 Sunday fixtures. That said, there weren’t too many surprises this week, as Manchester City, Spurs, Liverpool and Manchester United all came away with victories, keeping the race for second place alive! With that said, here’s the FPL Updates Gameweek 28 FPL Review…

Goalkeeper

Ederson Santana de Moraes – Man City faced Arsenal for the second time in a week, and it resulted in the same result – 0-3 victory. This time though Arsenal picked up a penalty, of which Aubameyang saw his spot kick saved by Ederson. Coupled with a clean sheet and 3 bonus points, the Brazilian keeper picked up a massive haul of 15 points, making him the highest scoring player of the gameweek.

Defenders

Kyle Walker – Our second player of the gameweek 28 dream team is another Manchester City player, Kyle Walker. During the demolition of Arsenal, Walker did manage to pick up a knock and was replaced on the 72nd minute, which meant he still picked up the clean sheet bonus. Walker also managed to provide the assist for Sane’s goal and City’s third, which gave the Englishman a single bonus point, bringing his total to 10 points.

James Tomkins – Palace held out until the 88th minute, before Harry Kane managed to grab a late winner, meaning he has now scored 23 goals in 34 Premier League London derbies. That said however, those who owned James Tomkins got a bit lucky as he was taken off on the 84th minute meaning that he kept hold of his clean sheet, which also earned him 3 bonus points! 9 points for the 2.6% that own him.

Adrian Mariappa – Watford saw out a tight 1-0 victory against Everton this gameweek, with the Hornets defence keeping a rare clean sheet. Mariappa managed to play the full 90, scoring 8 FPL points in the process, which at a price of 4.1m, is a brilliant return.

Midfielders

Emre Can & Mohamed Salah – Captained by 28% of FPL managers (1,617,467) in gameweek 28, Mohamed Salah was actually outscored this gameweek by fellow midfielder Emre Can. The German managed to score Liverpool’s first goal, which was assisted by Salah, who then went on to score Liverpool’s second goal. Emre Can then assisted Firmino who finished off West Ham with a third. Salah has now scored double digit FPL returns on 13 occasions this season, making him a must have and putting him 50 points ahead of any other player (De Bruyne -177) in the game.

Leroy Sane – It wasn’t since gameweek 24 that Sane had been on the team sheet and he was back with a bang. A goal, an assist and 2 bonus points meant that the German walked away with 13 points, which was a big tally considering many were stuck with the injured Raheem Sterling (owned by 32%) who wasn’t in the match day squad.

Rajiv van La Parra – Alongside Mariappa, van La Parra was one of the bargains in this week’s dream team, priced at just 4.8m, the Dutch midfielder scored in Huddersfield’s 1-2 victory over West Brom. This coupled with 3 bonus points earned just 0.2% of FPL managers a nice 10 points and with a nice set of fixtures coming up, it wouldn’t be surprising to see his ownership rise.

Forwards

Dwight Gayle – Owned by just 0.9% of Fantasy Premier League managers, Dwight Gayle found the back of the net on two occasions against Bournemouth, following on from his 5 point return against Manchester United. 13 points and the highest scoring striker in gameweek 28.

Glenn Murray – Brighton stormed past Swansea in a 4-1 victory, with Murray gabbing a brace. This means that at 5.8m, Murray has now scored 5 goals in his last 6 gameweeks, although with no fixture in gameweek 31, it might be worth avoiding bringing him in just yet!

Romelu Lukaku – Lukaku’s ownership has been on the drop of late, however he punished many fantasy managers with a double digit return this week, with a total of 12 points. Lukaku was at his best against his former employers and he punished them by scoring one and setting up another as United came out with a 2-1 victory over the Blues.
