Why Zaha has not been receiving bonus points – Fantasy Premier League Tips

Been wondering why Crystal Palace best player Wilfried Zaha who scored the winner against Chelsea and bagged an equaliser against West Ham hasn’t given you any bonus in the Fantasy Premier League?

Zaha, who returned from an injury to bag the first goal for Crystal Palace this season against the Blues has been the only player at Palace making things happen for the club, without his involvement the Eagles would have still be sitting with zero point in the league by now, with odds emerging from free bet.

Now according to the official Premier League Fantasy Football that wasn’t enough to earn him bonus points, which is only offered to the three best players in each match every weekend.

The Reason he is not getting them?

They are devised and allocated post-match according to a Bonus Points System (BPS). The BPS utilises a range of statistics supplied by Opta that capture actions on the pitch, to create a performance score for every player.

The players with the top three BPS in a given match receive bonus points – three points to the highest-scoring player, two to the second best and one to the third.

Should incase there is Bonus points tie, this would happen;

– If there is a tie for first place, Players 1 & 2 will receive 3 points each and Player 3 will receive 1 point.

– If there is a tie for second place, Player 1 will receive 3 points and Players 2 and 3 will receive 2 points each.

– If there is a tie for third place, Player 1 will receive 3 points, Player 2 will receive 2 points and Players 3 & 4 will receive 1 point each.

But Zaha has not been getting them due to Roy Hodgson’s new tactics system.

While according to Fantasy Premier League, players are should make 30 passes in order to qualify for points in the BPS, which is based on completion of passes in percentage but forwards tend to get fewer touches or quick pass than midfielder and winger, which cut down the number of passes they make.

When the Senegalese played as a winger last season, he completes passes in every 4.1 minutes but this season has seen him drop to every 5.3 minutes in the last three matches as he was deployed in a striking role. Dribbling, players can also earn points through successive dribbles (one points for each one) and they lose points when tackled or get dispossessed and Zaha was frequently in this position.

Zaha was said to be tackled nine times by West Ham players, while also losing out to the BPS for two fouls and being caught offside twice in the match. Against Chelsea he was tackled six times. He was Tackled than any other player last season, losing 239 points in the process and his change in position is yet to take effect on his dribbles.

Meanwhile, Zaha is still being classified as a midfielder is hindering his bonus points for each goal. When a midfielder score, they get 18 points in the BPS for each goal, while when a forward score they get 24 points, that helped Chicharito triumph over Zaha in the BPS to earn three bonus points, despite he’s performance was somewhat poor in the game, while Zaha performance was impressive.

But in-spite of that, Zaha is worth getting into your fantasy team because, Palace striker Christian Benteke has been sidelined for a month, and he seems to be the only player who will be bringing in the goals for Palace.

Meanwhile Crystal Palace will be returning to action and will be set to fight for three points with League contenders Tottenham, as Zaha will still be putting up a good performance for the Eagles.
