Captaincy Analysis – FPL Gameweek 16 Tips – Fantasy Premier League Tips

Gameweek 15 is finished and before we know it we are looking down the barrel of gameweek 16! Before we consider the captaincy candidates for this week, here’s how gameweek 16’s captaincy analysis did:

1. Eden Hazard – 5 points
2. Raheem Sterling – 0 points
3. Callum Wilson – 12 points
Differential – Heung-Min Son – 8 points
Gamble – Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang – 2 points

Now onto this week’s selections:

1. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (HUD)

A blank last week to Man United may be enough to put people off captaining him, however he’s still one of the top scorers and has been in top form this season, regardless of the blank. Arsenal take on a Huddersfield side that have struggled all season at the back, conceding 2 to Bournemouth last weekend too, and they’ll likely struggle again when they travel to the Emirates. Weirdly, it doesn’t matter which striker of Arsenal’s starts, as they seem to do just as well off the bench!

2. Harry Kane (LEI)

If you’re looking for the most likely player to start every week in this festive period, look no further than Kane, who has played the full 90 minutes for what feels like the last 300 games. The man is a machine! Spurs have only failed to score once this season, and with Kane starting to get into some form (which comes after Eriksen’s return, by the way!), he’s surely got to be the safest option for captaincy this week. He hasn’t blanked for the past 5 gameweeks now; can he make it 6?

3. Richarlison (WAT)

Everton this season have been strange, to say the least, particularly Richarlison. When teams park the bus (Huddersfield, Newcastle etc), Everton struggle to break teams down, having a huge impact on the chances that Richarlison gets. However, he was noticeably much more involved in Everton’s recent game than in his previous 5, achieving 70 touches against Newcastle, as he was playing in his preferred position on the left side. If he continues to play on the left against Watford, then I can see him grabbing a goal against his former side.

Differential – Lucas Perez (CRY)

Believe it or not, but I actually don’t think Lucas is a bad player. In fact, when he played for Deportivo, I wanted Everton to sign him! He scored his first Premier League goal(s) last weekend after coming on as a substitute for Arnautovic, who will be missing for at least a month. The key thing there is that in this period, a month equates to about 7/8 games! He could be the perfect option for a replacement for Arnie, especially as only 0.2% of FPL managers own him at the moment!

Gamble – Leroy Sane (CHE)

I’m not sure who first pointed it out, but whenever Mendy doesn’t feature for Man City, Sane’s form starts to pick up. Since he came in, he’s scored 4 goals and assisted 4 times for City, however, an away game to Chelsea will prove to be a difficult one for Sane. I think there’s better options available this week, and despite City being unbeaten, Pep has proven time and time again that you can’t predict his lineups. With Sterling dropped last week, I’d hazard a bet that he’ll feature this week, but I have no idea if that means Sane will drop to the bench. Play safe, and go for the others if you want to maintain a high rank!
