Captaincy Analysis – FPL Gameweek 19 Tips – Fantasy Premier League Tips

Merry Christmas everyone! But, ignoring the Christmas dinner, opening presents and inevitable family tantrums, let’s crack on with FPL. Before we look at this week’s captaincy analysis, here’s how last week’s picks did:

1. Leroy Sane – 2 points
2. Eden Hazard – 2 points
3. Xherdan Shaqiri – 0 points
Differential – Gerard Deulofeu – 9 points
Gamble – Harry Kane – 15 points

Now onto this week’s selections:

1. Mohamed Salah (NEW)

Salah takes the number one pick this week, after blanking only 3 times in the last 11 gameweeks, and lets be honest, we all know what Salah is capable of. Liverpool are still unbeaten in the league, and every win is now more or less a must-win for them. They’ll need Salah to continue his phenomenal form, and they take on Newcastle at home this Boxing Day, which surely should see plenty of goals.

2. Harry Kane (BOU)

That was an eventful one that we saw on Sunday, with Kane netting 2 goals and assisting once in a 6-2 thriller against Everton. This week will probably be a tougher task for Spurs, with a home game against Bournemouth on Boxing Day, and if they continue how they performed on the weekend, then Kane could very well end up scoring a couple of goals again. The only reason why he isn’t number one, is that Kane has been rested already this season, and it’s hard to determine when/if Kane gets dropped again.

3. Paul Pogba (HUD)

He was originally going to be the differential option, however there’s a better player more suited to that role in my opinion. Pogba got 3 assists last week in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s first game for Man United, almost as if he wasn’t playing as well as he could have for the previous manager. They take on Huddersfield at home next week, and if they continue performing like they did against Cardiff, then this could be another thrashing, and Pogba could certainly be in the thick of the goals should he start.

Differential – Kevin De Bruyne (LEI)

This went unnoticed last week, but a) – He got 2 bonus points for playing 28 minutes, and B) – He’s £9.7m, and only owned by 4% of FPL managers. You can take advantage of his low ownership, because he’s one of the best players in the league! They now need to catch up to Liverpool after their shock loss to Crystal Palace last week, and will need their star man to pull them back to the top of the table!

Gamble – Eden Hazard (WAT)

Despite coming into form recently, I’ve decided to put Hazard as a gamble, because Watford have been fantastic recently and Chelsea losing at home to Leicester has put a bit of doubt in my mind about Hazard. He’s owned by over 40% of FPL managers, but an away game to Watford will definitely be a tough one for the Belgian. Chelsea will be desperate to try and keep up with Tottenham, and trying to avoid successive losses in the league, but they’ll need Hazard to get on the scoresheet!
