Fantasy Premier League Preview – Gameweek 19 – FPL Tips

The tight schedule brings in another gameweek on boxing day and this comes with teams who could be pretty fatigued. Rotation may be key for these fixtures and here’s an idea as to what might happen in this gameweek with our weekly fantasy premier league preview…

Fulham vs Wolves

After holding Newcastle United to a goalless draw at St. James’ Park at the weekend, Fulham will be looking to return to winning ways in the Premier League when they host Wolves at Craven Cottage. The Cottagers are eager to escape the relegation zone, but Wednesday’s football match will be anything but a walk in the park for them. A man to watch in the home team will be Aleksandar Mitrovic and seeing that Fulham produce better displays at home than on the travels, we predict that Claudio Ranieri’s men are going to find the net in the midweek fixture. Wolves, on the other hand, are eager to bounce back from a 2-0 loss to Liverpool and, no doubt, they would be happy with one point from the Fulham clash. Given the attacking potential of the away team, we believe that there is a strong chance for both teams to score.

STAR MAN: Tom Cairney (4.7m)

His growing influence has benefitted Fulham who will be looking to test this Wolves defence at home.

PREDICTION: Fulham 1-1 Wolves

Burnley vs Everton

Everton will be looking to make amends for an embarrassing 6-2 loss to Tottenham when they take on Burnley at Turf Moor on Matchday 19. The Toffees obviously struggle at the back, but Wednesday’s football match against Burnley could be the turning point for Marco Silva’s men. Theo Walcott scored the opener in the 6-2 defeat to Spurs and the former Arsenal winger will be one of the men to watch in the away team. The Clarets, on the other hand, head into the midweek fixture following back-to-back defeats to Tottenham and Arsenal and seeing that they sit in the relegation zone ahead of Matchday 19. We are tempted to put our bets on Everton, who are desperate to get back on course, but you should bear in mind that the Clarets defeated the Toffees in their last meeting in Burnley.

STAR MAN: Gylfi Sigurdsson (7.3m)

After last week’s terrible hammering at the hands of Spurs he will be looking to redeem his team’s confidence by leading from the front.

PREDICTION: Burnley 1-3 Everton

Crystal Palace vs Cardiff

Against all odds, Crystal Palace defeated Manchester City at Etihad Stadium at the weekend, with the team producing probably the best performance of the season. The Eagles have been in thrilling form of late and they will be looking to give fans yet another reason for celebration when they host Cardiff at Selhurst Park. Andros Townsend scored a stunner in the 3-2 win over Man City and the pacey attacker is likely to pose a big threat for the opposition defenders. The Bluebirds, on the other hand, experienced all sorts of problems at the back in a 5-1 loss to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s Manchester United and we do not believe that they are capable of grabbing something from Wednesday’s football game against the capital club. Taking everything into account, we believe that there is a better chance to put your money on the Eagles to get the win.

STAR MAN: Wilfried Zaha (6.7m)

His pace will cause problems for that Cardiff defence.

PREDICTION: Crystal Palace 2-1 Cardiff

Leicester vs Manchester City

All eyes will be on King Power Stadium when Leicester and Manchester City face each other on day 19 of the new Premier League campaign. The Foxes did well to shock Chelsea at Stamford Bridge at the weekend, with Jamie Vardy scoring the only goal of the match. The Citizens, on the other hand, suffered an unexpected 3-2 loss to Crystal Palace in front of home fans in their last league match, meaning that Wednesday’s football game is of big importance for Pep Guardiola’s troops. Man City have no other choice but to go all guns blazing at the Foxes and we predict that the title holders are going to start a new winning run on Matchday 19. Both Kun Aguero and Kevin de Bruyne are likely to be recalled to the starting line-up, which is yet another reason why an away win should be considered.

STAR MAN: Sergio Aguero (11.2m)

He will definitely look to get back on the scoresheet on his return.

PREDICTION: Leicester 2-3 Manchester City

Liverpool vs Newcastle

Buoyed by a 2-0 win over Wolves, Liverpool will be looking to cement their position in the Premier League standings when they host Newcastle. The Reds are eyeing their eighth consecutive victory in the English top flight and we predict that they are going to stick to their attacking style of play against the Magpies. Mohamed Salah scored his 11th goal of the season in the 2-0 triumph over Wolves and all eyes will be on the Egypt international when they face Rafa Benitez’s troops. The Magpies failed to impress in a goalless draw with Fulham and seeing that they have been struggling in front of goal of late, we do not believe that they are capable of spoiling Liverpool’s party at Anfield. When the two teams met in Liverpool last term the Reds defeated the Magpies 2-0.

STAR MAN: Roberto Firmino (9.2m)

Goalless in his last three fixtures this is definitely the game where he might put himself back on the scoresheet.

PREDICTION: Liverpool 2-0 Newcastle

Manchester United vs Huddersfield

The Red Devils have had a cracking start to life under new boss Solskjaer, scoring 5 goals for the first time since Sir Alex Ferguson’s last game incharge. The fans are buzzing and so are the players. All we can see is another big United win coming.

STAR MAN: Paul Pogba (7.9m)

Rising from the dead, he is the man that United fans want to see deliver.

PREDICTION: Manchester United 3-0 Huddersfield

Tottenham vs Bournemouth

Last time out, Spurs clearly showed how hard they can be to crack when on form against a relatively sturdy Everton defence. With the home crowd them this time, it should be another Boxing Day win for Pochettino’s boys.

STAR MAN: Harry Kane (12.5m)

7 goals in the last 4 Boxing Day fixtures. You know who to captain this gameweek.

PREDICTION: Tottenham 3-1 Bournemouth

Brighton vs Arsenal

Emery and his team have been eagerly putting pressure on their fellow Londoners in the fight for Top 4, and the Gunners couldn’t have asked for better fixtures in this fixture congested period.

STAR MAN: Mesut Ozil (8.0m)

The German international will be key to breaking down the Seagulls defence.

PREDICTION: Brighton 1-2 Arsenal

Watford vs Chelsea

The Blues come into this fixture on the back of a pretty much undeserved result against the Foxes which has made them somewhat fall adrift of the Top 3. Sarri and his boys will be looking to immediately turn things around, and with the firepower they possess, they more than capable of doing it.

STAR MAN: Eden Hazard (11.0m)

Top of the assist charts, he might want to a few more to his tally.

PREDICTION: Watford 1-3 Chelsea

Southampton vs West Ham

Southampton come into this fixture on the back of back to back wins under new manager Hasenhüttl, while the Hammers on the contrary suffered a minor hiccup last time around after a 4 game winning streak. We have at hand, two really attack minded sides going head to head, and all we can expect here is goals.

STAR MAN: Danny Ings (5.6m)

3 goals in the last 2 games. You might want to consider Ings for this one.

PREDICTION: Southampton 2-2 West Ham
